Here in New England (board to remain anonymous), we too are required to wear red underneath our navy polos. I wear a red mock turtle neck from McDavid. There not too hot even on a warm summers night. I must admit though, I would love to wear black. It just bleeds professionalism. balls and strikes baby!!!!

I too use Oakley polarized lenses. you will be amazed at their clarity. When I work the bases it seems like Im not even wearing glasses. Terrific investment. Best of luck. Balls and strikes baby!!!

what happen to patent leather in umpiring
semperfiguy replied to jourdyn08's topic in Umpire Equipment
Ilike the patent leather belts also. Very professional. The shoes --well not so much. -
Im also an Ump-Attire guy. i will give them a look. Who knows maybe there is a great deal hiding somewhere. Thanks again. Ballls and strikes baby!!!!

I still use my Mizunos. They are really too heavy. But they feel nice. Problem is after a while my feet will start to ache, if its a barn-burner, and Im running alot.

I have yet to see the ultimate ball bags. I still am using the first generation ball bags Buella made. They hold up like iron. But I dont like the elastic look. I will be in the hunt for new bags this spring. Just havent made up my mind yet. Something tells me I will be back at Ump-attire real soon. balls and strikes baby!!!

I bought my platinum from ump-Attire. First off, I put aside the cash for this purchase so it was not an issue. Most importantly, Jim Kirk stands by everything. He is the LL Bean of umpire equipment. It for me was the best $140 I ever spent. But if you maintain your gear, $80 is a great price if its in serviceable condition. Best of luck. Balls and strikes baby!!

I wish my association would allow the black. It looks awesome. So for now, Im stuck in navy. Oh well. balls and strikes baby!!!

i love my WV Platinum. I call from Mens League down. Very comfortable, and I find it is very secure with just the right amount of protection. much cooler than my BB2000 from Plus-pos. balls and strikes baby!!

I use a plus-pos equipment bag. Im not sure I would need a bag for my CP. Just my two cents!! Balls adn strikes baby!!!!

Two words Strike - Three! Im loud enough for everyone to hear me anyway!!!! Balls and strikes baby!!!

As a former Sergeant of Marines, I can only speak of what I know works. Clean em off, put some polish on them and hit them with either a shine rag (great start) or spit shine them. It only takes 10 minutes, and they look like glass. Balls and strikes baby!!!

Gerry Davis charcoal grey pants with pleats!!! good construction, great wear and tear!!! Best of luck----Balls and strikes baby!!!

Kyle & the Major said it best. If Don in Kansas cant help you then find a way to buy Wilson Gear. There is no option. Dont be a martyr when there is quality protection out there. After a full season, you will have made enough to buy what you need. Yeah you might need Dunkin over Starbucks, but it beats surgery over advil!!!!! Best of luck. Balls & strikes Baby!!!!

The most comfortable "undershorts" I've ever worn!
semperfiguy replied to sasmallen's topic in Umpire Equipment
Funny you should bring this topic up. I currently wear the UA shorts with the UA cup, but it floats on you, and I am constantly adjusting my gear if you know what I mean. My mcdavid regular compression shorts are super tight, and my cup doesnt move, but my underarmour are much more comfortable, and breathe better. Now i wear UA tihgts over my UA shorts with cup, because they absorb moisture better, and I dont have that look like I pissed my pants. I just wish UA made tights with a cup pocket, that I would hope dont float your protective cup. Oh well, Maybe these are my next purchase!! -
Negative!!!! Nor would I wear a batters helmet when working the slots (B,C). even though base coaches, managers have too!!!

What players did you grow up idolizing?
semperfiguy replied to Umpire in Chief's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
Bosox fan- Freddie Lynn, Jim Rice (Cooperstown this weekend), Yaz, Pudge Fisk!!!! Enough said!!!!!! -
I have both. A while back patent leather was the standard. But i can clean and polish a standard leather belt to look just as good. i dont use my patent leather as much anymore. But it does look good in a pinch. balls and strikes baby!!!!:wow:

i swithced over to the gerry davis charcoal grey pants and I cnat say enough about them. As a marine i demand my appearance be perfect. these hang so well, are very well made and look terrific. the darker grey also looks better IMHO. anyhow, GD now is making there charcoal in a new heather grey that wont be shipped until dec. 10th. i will be ordering those too. If they are made the same then I will have made another great investment. Lets hope our local boards catch on to the latest and greatest in uniforms.

Like stan said earler I too bought strictly Pluspos because at the tiime it was the best. yes it was expensive and I was told it offered unparallel protection. I still use all of it except i just invested in a doe skin west vest mask because my other started peeling all over the mask. I also just ordered a new set of nb 450's for my dogs. But I also believe buy the best because your safety is that important, and it also pays too look good too. i agree if your not invested in this hobby of ours then your not accepted as real. balls and strikes baby!!!!

I too spit shine my plus pos plate shoes. I love them and they shine great but they are a bit heavier and I am starting to feel teh effects on my feet. I consider myself in excellent shape and I am sure teh nb will allow even more mobility. i look forward to them.

Hey Blue 32_ I went to NB today to get properly measured because I recently had foot problems (bunions and some plantar faciatis) and I am only 40. But anyway Doug at NB told me even though teh 350's are no longer in production dont worry he says teh next model will still be as comfortable and durable if not more. I hope he is right. And for good measure I ordered a set of 450 mk's for behind the plate. If they are half as nice as posters say they are I should be very happy!!!!

Help fitting my new Chest Protector
semperfiguy replied to Umpire in Chief's topic in Umpire Equipment
:eek:Hey Major Dave- great minds think alike. I did the same thing with my pluspos BB2000. I wore a mock for about a year until i could stand it . sometimes the break in period could be longer than you think so hang in there UIC.
