  1. If he take 20 sec (I think) you can charge him a strike. Or can do like cowboy joe and have the pitcher throw the ball and then call the pitch, of course that would me a more OBR way of handle it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Teach kids to play safe and the right way, and trust the umpire to make the call if there is interference or MC. You might not get the call, that a whole different post, but you should never teach kids to fish for calls. It only get people hurt and perverts the game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. What size are the shoes?
  4. 1) I feel like here in TN we get paid very well, between the two sports that i officiate i racked in a little over 8 grand last year and didn't feel like i was losing a ton of time with my family. 2) another problem that I see with the respect issue is officials that don't educate themselves and stay in the rule book. That's probably not anyone on this site, because if your reading these post your at least making an attempt to be a scholar of the game. of course your going to feel put down and criticized if you don't know what your doing or talking about. and on the other hand if you are educated in the game the hecklers don't really bother you because you know you are right. 3) I agree the process is pretty easy 4b) I might have an illegal slide, but no MC. but in a real game having to make a quick decision i've prob got nothing.
  5. Where is this at. I know I've read this rule, but can't find it currently. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Volump, after further research on this topic, I will have to apologize. Although im not 100% on board with you interp of this situation I cannot find anything in a rule book that disregarded it. I'm don't think personally I would call it that way, but I do apologize. Wouldnt want to make a fellow Vol mad.
  7. IF your serious about this statement then what do we use to rule on FED games? Do we pick and choose the rules we want to follow? Do we make up rules so that they fit our situation or make us look good? I agree that there are some things that might seem incorrect, but it's still what we must follow and enforce. But the also have to be enforced with a little common sense For this situation I'd be glad to look up the case play number from noumpere post above, but I'll have to do that tomorrow, bc my case book is in my truck.
  8. Yes your correct. I think we are just envisioning this in different ways. If his leg is under the fence up to his knee maybe you would have to kill it, but if just a small part of his foot is caught, like I was thinking I'd say play on. Probably just one of those things you have to be there to see. You could probably argue it either way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Anyone got any opinions about the F3 mask. I've been wanting one for a while, but I'm super cheap. I've decide to pull the trigger. Before I do any thought? Weight? Fit? Do you like it? Etc? Thanks, any help is appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. This is what I'm Talking about. There's more to baseball then just balls, strikes, safes, and outs. there's also more to life then just baseball. Life is about something much bigger. Way to be an awesome role model for kids, coaches, and fans.
  11. I had some down time at work, so i watched it. Good stuff, but not sure I agree with the OBS call in the second clip. He was for sure blocking the plate, no doubt, but it in no way hindered or impeded the the runner IMO.
  12. If in your judgement you the runner was coming back and the situation seemed unrelaxed (she running back), would she not have to be taged?? just a thought. I think this is the discussion noumpere and stkjock are having.
  13. That's the thing we can really see. DID the runner deviate. Can't really tell that from pictures. I would say no OBS based on the pictures, But could have a different thing in real time. And looking at the feet and there relation to the foul line is the first step in determining OBS, at least that was how I was taught. The way It was explained to me was on or inside the foul, they are good, outside the foul line then you need to start looking for the other indicators of OBS. ( and yes i Get that the Foul line extends from the point of the plate) It's possible that I was taught wrong, but that is what i have been doing for years, and it hasn't got me in trouble yet. At least not more trouble then can be expected when calling OBS at the plate.
  14. Yea, I guest that is it. Good Stuff. I don't know why the camp I got to every year he calls it the rail system. He uses the analogy of train tracks to explain it, so that probably why. Just simplifying it for us i guess.
  15. 3BX would be better, but habits are hard to break. On a side not see about looking into the "rails" mechanic (Not sure if this is the actual name of it or not, but that what I've always heard it referred to.) Will Little, MLB ump # 93, Showed us at a camp and it pretty awesome, at the plate or anytime you can work the whole bag. really opens the play up. On to your play, he looks good for OBR and NCAA rule set. Assuming this is a HS game, I'd still say he his good. Can't see the actual placement of the left foot, but it looks like he's right on, or near the foul line, which is normally what I look to determine if he's blocking the plate or not. also, part of OBS rule is did it actual effect the play, And based on your pictures I'd say no, he'd be out either way. Good Call.

  17. I think Sam got a little carried away. I'm sure they pre-gamed all the bad blood between the two team and probably had a plan in place to handle it. when it happened he just jumped to conclusion instead of reading the situations. Bad night with game mangment, but we all have them.
  18. Got my answer! If I'd learn to read everyone'd post before asking something I'd probably save some time.
  19. Can anyone think of another situation where Intervening Play comes into effect? I tried but got nothing.

  21. I can help but assume we are from the same general area by your UN, you my be commended by a few, but I can assure the majority would dread working with you because sounds like you like picking up the wrong side of the stick. Plus based and the case play cited by noumpere, rich ives and marven in this thread, it's the wrong call. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tag or force out!

Well I've got no chance, I can't do anything with my right hand. its really quite useless. It took be forever to get calling outs and strikes down with my right hand so if there are other lefties like me there just out of luck. And I'll have to do more research before i have a clue about what your saying. lol for others that are interested this is a short YouTube video on the sport

    Tag or force out!

never heard of it until now. Did a little research and it seems pretty cool, even though it discriminates from lefties like myself.

Well, no polo for me then. Whats the other one?
  25. it's an interesting case play but I would prob go with noumpere answer. Interference is not a play, in fact it would be a dead ball. Which i guess in this case would still allow for the appeal, but I'm guessing you'd have to put the ball back in play???? most coaches don't know the appeal procedures anyway, so you could probably get by with about anything as long ans you can sell it if they question it.
