I have a quick reference guide that I made for myself on an index card, of course I made it for the 2014 book :(. I go over it real quick while I'm waiting for partners to show up. 1) I need to work on slowing down my calls, especially on close plays. I don't remember who suggested it in another thread but tapping where on the body a tag occurred has helped on those plays. That was great advise. 2) I need to work on my slot position. I can see the whole plate but I just feel that I'm not in there like I should be. I feel it most on outside pitches. (number one reason I wish I could have made it to midamump's clinic) 3) Tracking the ball. I track it fine on lower levels, but on the higher levels I still loose it sometimes. I think I'm blinking just before the ball crosses the plate, but whatever it is, I need to figure it out and fix it.

I've got a bunch of the smitty mlb style. I'm meh on them but I paid $10ish apiece for them so worth it. In mildly cool weather they are hot because they really hold in the heat, like wearing a plastic bag so you sweat alot. I like them for the plate when it's 40-60 cold. I won't wear it on the bases over 65, its to hot. Since it traps the heat, over the gear it's light to wear without bulk. They wash well, don't wrinkle easily, and run true to size for plate sizing. It is good for rain, but again if it's a warm rain, it's too hot. It's also a good wind block. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Now that I've finished the season, I'm focused on finding a CP that will work for me. I'm in need of a quality CP that will cover my narrow clavicle and side b**b, not slip down, and allow me to raise my arms. I've tried the Wilson platinum, but it's too wide and left my clavicle wide open (wasted $). I looked like the kid in the snow suit from A Christmas Story in it. I have a cheap soft vest but even at its tightest (without killing the girls) and with two different harnesses, it keeps slipping down. Plus, the cheap one isn't safe, bruised ribs twice wearing it on kids games. Any ideas? I'd love to see some of your vests on a lady if it's possible. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

If I could find that Q&A sheet they put out I could go point by point on how laughable it was. If you'd like to know my experience in general with the unions, I'd be more than happy to DM you our experience. Hubs has been a member of his trade his whole working career and has worked permit for 4 different trades, so I have a good working knowledge of the effects both the good and the bad. We have a lot of guys here who use the magnets. There are a few tailors around here that make the set out of our patches for $8. I don't do varsity so I'm not required to wear patches or insignia hat but insignia hat is preferred. I always wear my associations hat, especially when I'm lent out to another association or when we have borrowed members on the fields. You're right. I called my trainer and had him explain it. You can't interfere with a PRESUMED play, that makes sense now. Dead ball/ball or strike, runners return. Still feels like it should be more but I understand why it's not. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

@grayhawk, I don't understand how this couldn't be interference, especially if you have a runner (say) breaking for second and the batter grabs the ball. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Could also be batters interference if there were runners on but you'd be really hard pressed to get me to call that in 10u rec. IMO, I would do what base jester said but I'd follow it up with a very quick explanation to the batter of why not to do that. If your 10u fall ball rec leagues are anything like here, teaching leagues, then I bet it would be appreciated. I've not yet had a coach, parent, or club director that didn't appreciate me asking a player after a play "hey bud, do you know why I made that call?" and 90% of the time you get a deer in the headlights "no" from the kid. I appreciated my HSM doing kiddie fall ball. Took two thrown bats to the side of the head and more than a few missed balls, yeah I turned my head and I was bobbin and weaving back there behind 9 - 13u kids that (for the most part) sucked at baseball and/who had never caught/pitched before. Awe, the joys of fall training ball... I like my TM with TW pads also. I still wear it but only on better quality ball fields. I have a pair of under armour gloves my brother gave me, I think they came from the px, that are amazing. My extremities get cold fast and stay cold but I swear by these glove. Not too hot, not to cold, and my hands don't sweat in them. They were really appreciated during spring ball with snow on the ground. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I have the Wilson shock fx 2.0, on amazon it's around 250 and worth every penny. I got mine from MLB catcher for WAY less so if you look around you can find a good used one a lot cheaper. I've taken balls from every thing from 9u to 16u on it and I'm glad I switched over from the TM. Over the winter months is a great time to look for preloved gear or deals (amazon is a good place for umpire jackets, none of mine have been over $12) and officialschoice.com is a site I like for shirts.
