Thanks guys, it's appreciated. I'm going to attempt to organize a training booklet, especially for those juniors that missed the training meetings. I think that might be better than overwhelming them with information. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

There are actually a lot of variables in that. I thought the same thing but my husband gave me a whole lesson on why that may not necessarily be the case. I'd explain it but I zoned out after the second or third sentence. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

This is the type of grammar we get for a national survey?

What advice would you give junior umpires (13-15) before their first games? Since I broke my foot, I've been taking some of the junior umpires out for their first games. I stand on the sideline and watch. I'm there for rules questions and to advise in between innings. I try to convey as much as I can but what advice would y'all give? I know I'm leaving important things out. (reading this site is always on my "you should definitely do" list to them) Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Batter is out for interference, runner returns to TOP base 6.06c. Is that correct gentlemen? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Please do!! I'm still looking for pants. I ordered a pair of honig's ladies pants and they are around 4 sizes off, maybe more. The fabric is not a great quality nor would they be comfortable for 5 games. These things are a joke. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

That makes no sense either. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk -
I've been out with rookies and new junior umpires all week and this is a stress point I make to them: Put the ball in play each and every time. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Nope. Absolutely not. Tell the coach he gets the two on deck and everyone else has to be in the dugout. One errant miss by a warming up first baseman, a bad throw, or an on purpose bad throw and you're begging for trouble. Did they at least have helmets on? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I'm pretty sure we don't have enough umpires enforcing it. I doubt most even notice outside of HS. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Wow, not a bad day on the diamond. Did the partner even offer you a concession stand burger at least? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I enforce it, even on my kiddie games. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Dang, feel better. This one I think it would depend on your association and what you're comfortable with. I could imagine doing the plate with my arm behind my back, but that's the only way I would do it and I'm not sure that an association would allow that for insurance reasons. Bases, I think you'd be fine. Do they actually cast still or do they use those funky molded plastic casts? With that molded cast, I would think it would less noticeable and less cumbersome than the old heavy plaster kind. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Thanks guys, I'm very appreciative. @huskerump22 yeah, UIC put me in the office til I'm released. Good thing too after today! Canceling games (and moving a varsity tournament) for air quality, in Omaha Nebraska!? What the begeezes? I was at the office for 12 hours and I have to be in early straight through the weekend. What exactly is the point of trolling this thread? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Under rule we should have left the field the moment of injury and called the game since it was regular season (so it counts for nothing other than practice for tourneys), we were more that 3 1/2 innings in with the home team in the lead and at bat. If you want to get technical, he was wrong on all fronts, plus being a SH*#ty human being. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Tournaments, nope. They get what the tournament lays out. Travel ball regular season games or rec, I could care less as long as it's reasonable. Usually it's something like not taking an out for a missing or late player and Im fine with that. Or warnings on first balks, also fine with me. I had one game where they wanted to waive the run rules, that one was a solid no. It's never a good sign when they want to waive run rules before that game even starts. Schnikies, that NAIA one was pure luck! I'm going to try to do the bases for a Catholic league 14u tomorrow. It's wreck ball and it's a partner I trust to cover my rear if I get too hobbled. I figure I'll tape it up good and see how it goes. I've got a big tournament (12 games) this weekend that I shouldnt miss but I'll be on bases for most of it and they are little 12u fields. UIC wanted to pull me but I said wait to see how wreck ball goes first. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I don't have plate shoes, they don't make them in my size, I just wear steel toes shoes which I polished up all nice today and then promptly left them at home. Lol, one shin guard!? Did you actually take the plate without your mask? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

So I had a double header tonight of 13uAAAs. Second game I had the plate and for 13, these guys were throwing some heat. Nothing I haven't seen but my idiot self left my steel toed shoes at home. Bottom of the sixth I took a foul ball right to my big toe. Yup, broken. I took a few minutes for the stabbing pain to subside and we continued the game. Two batters later the timer went off. Away coach starts throwing a fit that he wants three more minutes because my injury time. I finished the game with a broken toe and this jack wagon wants three more minutes because he's losing by 6 runs. That was a solid NO. I could hear him b*thing all the way out the gate. The home team coach was just astonished at the other coach and offered to get the golf cart to take me to my car. Well, I'm off the plate for a few weeks but hopefully I can still field, we'll see. Lordy, I had one of those last year, 14 year old linebacker waiting for football to start was the catcher. He kept setting up high and inside and I don't think he gloved but one ball. The pitcher was throwing some heat too but had little control. It was a long painful game. I'm pretty sure I looked like I was doing the chicken dance back there by the second inning.
