My voice gets drowned out easily, it's pretty high pitched. I've been told I sound like a 12 year old boy or one of the cheering mothers. Last weekend was better, I've graveled my yell a bit and I got heard better. It did make my throat hurt a bit by the end of 5 games but I was heard better. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Yeah, like they printed on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock then chopped them in half. They are stupid big. They don't think about the umpires having to put them in their pockets. We're working the bases with this big ole sheet of white cardstock sticking out. (I don't know why but during the tourneys here usually the base umps keep the cards) Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I used mine last year and it was great, just wish the lineup cards that a few of our big tourneys used were so bloody big. Half a sheet of paper is ridiculous. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

If it's a regular season game who cares, Utrip only counts tournaments towards state and national rankings. If it's a tournament, it's the tournament rules that supersede. If it's an issue, get the tournament director. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

UIC just said this exact thing to me today. So true. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk -
It's probably better than grabbing the harness of a 9 year old's catchers vest and using them as a shield on every pitch. Apparently, parents don't like that. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

A) safe signal B) out on appeal, hmm, the mechanics, I'll assume signal the out and verbalize "out on appeal" C) I'm not sure - dang this question is harder than I first thought Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

No, your good love, I didn't take anything out of it. I haven't had a chance to see the video yet. We're out looking at acreages in southern MO. I'm looking forward to seeing it and having decent cell coverage again. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I didn't engage at all. I just told the assistant that we wouldn't start until he was in the parking lot and I waited until he took care of it. I won't engage after ejection at all. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

They didn't hear the balk call so the pitcher threw to third (instead of finishing his pitch home, hence the balk) on a runner at second moving to third. Then the third baseman threw to first on a runner returning. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I've learned to take a lot less crap from coaches over the last few years. We picked up a new contract with coaches that are used to kiddie umpires or in house umpires and one of their coaches thought he was going to scream at me from the dugout, that didn't go well for him. One man, 12u I had a balk, called it (easy balk really) immediately but the kids, parents and coaches were screaming and didn't even bother trying to listen to me (although the offensive parents managed to hear me). The kid started his motion home then got startled by runners moving and threw to a base. Runners running, and the defense would have had a double play except for the balk. After calling the balk I walked out in front of home with my arms up waiting for things to settle, I'm kind of used to coaches and parents ignoring my calls. Once they simmered down, I announced that I had a balk on the pitch, runners return (they were staring to walk off the field as it would have been three outs). Then the coach comes out yelling "what!? what!?" I say "coach he started his motion home" "No he didn't! Picking up his foot isn't a motion home" "yes coach he did, we're not going to be arguing calls tonight" "that's a horrible call!" plus a few things I didn't hear "coach, that's enough" I award runner and we continue play. A batter or two later this coach starts yelling from the dugout "did you check his form? Check his form.is his form OK?" and I'd had enough. "coach, your done. have a good night." three times I had to explain to the assistant coach that we don't resume play until the coach is gone. He went to work with a pitcher, the to the stands, finally he's screaming at me on the way out how terrible I am. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Legal in OBR? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

So if they've done nothing illegal, are we saying to give them the out? If they're not doing anything illegal, what's to stop and reset? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Newbies to any forum will conform. Every single forum on the Web has its own idiosyncrasies, that's just how the Web works. When I first joined, I was a newbie in every sense of the word (only a lot older than most). The thing that made me stay, wasn't that I could revive a long dead post, it was that the gentlemen here didn't pat me on the head, didn't patronize me, didn't talk down to me, but they were more than helpful even kindly helping me with the most rudimentary of Baseball questions and I got lots of responses. This is one of the most helpful forums I have ever been on. Asking a question that could have been answered long ago isn't poopoo'ed on here, except the very occasion gear question. Shoot, even now I have some dumb questions and there is always someone to point me in the right direction or explain to me why I'm off, and no one is ever rude or condescending. In Fed, you can still fake to third. If he started his motion towards home, that's a balk. (don't take my word, let the HS guys/gals weigh in, I'm putting this up there as an "am I right?") Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Awe, didn't know that. Thanks. I probably should learn those rules since I'm supposed to do HS this year. [emoji37] Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
