Hey Jeff, I'm just asking. How do you get interference there? The contact occurred after the ball was released, didn't affect the throw, and the runner did not deviate from his base path? In the case of rain or wet field, the umpire may instruct the pitcher to carry the rosin bag in his hip pocket. A pitcher may use the rosin bag for the purpose of applying rosin to his bare hand or hands. Neither the pitcher nor any other player shall dust the ball with the rosin bag; neither shall the pitcher nor any other player be permitted to apply rosin from the bag to his glove or dust any part of his uniform with the rosin bag. (Bold emphasis added to draw attention to the key part of the rule comment.) No entries in the following manuals found: MLB Umpire Casebook 2013 PBUC Black Book 2013 Wendelstedt Umpire School Rules & Interpretations Manual I think that 8.02(a) Comment, clearly shows that even though the material in the glove may be rosin, he is violating the rules, by his own admission, within 10 seconds of the interview, he states he "puts the rosin bag into the glove" which is illegal. The glove should have been removed, and he should have received a warning, if the umpires thought that the act wasn't intentional to deface. Of course, if the umpires did think he was doing it intentional, then they would kindly and politely excuse him from his duties for the evening. At least they should, but with it being the World Series..... Won't cheat? You did by putting the rosin bag in your glove. Ignorance of the law is no excuse!

You are very fortunate. I've taken shots off the legs and knee. What some refer to as the WV Crack, so goes it with the shins. Scares people out of their skin to hear the crack.

Thanks! I will be getting a full suit bag for the pants, shirts, jackets, etc. All my uniforms are dry cleaned and pressed. I absolutely despise a wrinkled uniform.

LF and RF umpires are affixed. Four regular men rotate like normal if the 2nd base umpire goes out.

I received my Motherlode today. Nice bag. I will have to look and see how y'all packed it to get it right. So many compartments in this thing. Hopefully I installed those fiberglass rods correctly. No instructions and online guide sucks.

My CP and Shims arrive on Friday. I will be doing a complete write up on the retrofit w/pictures. Stay tuned.

How funny. Most of the headlines this morning are crediting the Boston win to Dana Demuth's missed call and consequent overturn by the Crew Chief, John Hirshbeck. Unbelievable. Yeah, they are giving the umpires credit for getting the call right, but are complaining up a storm that they conferred on the field and overturned the call, citing this just isn't done. Confer and get it right and you can't win. Don't confer and you can't win. Baseball is doomed with IR.

That is an excellent example of how it is supposed to work according to the rules. That scenario is the prime example to quote against IR.

I do this, and it seems to work well. By doing that not on a dropped or dirt third strike, aka 1st or 2nd strike, you are actually aiding the offense and may confuse the defense. The only time you should declare a "No catch!" or "Ball's in the dirt!" is on the third strike, when appropriate under rule. The catcher and batter should realize what's going on during the time at bat. I think you are misunderstanding what Ricka wrote. He's saying on a THIRD strike only (not 1st or second), when you judge that it's caught but it's close to the ground, go ahead and declare verbally "that's a catch" so that both the batter and F2 know the status of the ball without having to look back. Same reason as declaring "no catch" or "ball hit the ground" when it's close but NOT caught. I was interpreting his quote "not a U3K but near the ground..." to mean not on a third strike. I took that to mean 1st or 2nd strike. On a 3rd strike I totally agree, unless 1st and 2nd are occupied with less than 2 outs. At that point the batter is out regardless. My apologies if I misunderstood.

TW just retrofitted my Wilson Platinum which was bought brand new a few weeks ago and it was all Velcro and they are on their way back to me. I'll have them on Friday with pics and thoughts. Why would TW not refit? Call Sheila and ask her. Manny, Where do you think I got this information?? Yes, the platinum has velcro ....velcro "straps" .... the strapped kind of CP is the only one that TW does.......... I was only asking Jeff. I don't like to assume things. I wasn't trying to contradict you. I apologize if that's the way it came across.
