  1. I should. I noticed my legs starting to wear on me the final game about the last 2 innings. But thankfully I have a wonderful wife that massage my back and legs for me.
  2. Did a 9 inning game and a 10.5 game today by myself. Plated all game. Was awesome to be able to get reps. Id like to thank @MidAmUmp for the clinic and helping me out with my positioning and mechanics. I felt locked in at least 95% of the both game. I noticed the times I tracked well, I noticed the times I didnt, I corrected, and saw the difference. Thanks to the entire staff @ the clinic.
  3. How long after the play at 1st did the runner touch home? If it was by 3-5 steps, id probably award home, if not id send him back to 3rd.
  4. 2bx?
  5. I feel like it would have been better had he moved a step rather than 2-3.
  6. what a learned last weekend is you dont rotate to 3rd if the ball doesnt leave the infield.so you would go between the mound and 1st, I believe its a better angle to see the slide at 2nd and if a throw goes by F3 or whoever is covering 1st, you have the overthrow responsibilities. (Ball stays in play or enters DBT) then you move back home for any play at the plate. After reading the 2015 CCA Manual - PG 63-64 This is what is said (for those who don't have it) (PLAYS WITHIN THE INFIELD) PU: Move toward the 3rd base side of the pitcher's mound to assist U1 with slide at 2nd by R1. If R1 is out, stay with the slide to ensure the slide was legal then turn towards first for secondary responsibility on a swipe tag and/or pulled foot at 1st. If R1 is safe and attempts to 3rd, PU has responsibility for plays at 3rd if ball and runner come together. Also, has all plays at home. (PLAYS WITHIN THE INFIELD: OVERTHROW) PU: moves toward the 3rd base side of the mound to assist U1 on the slide at 2nd if the defense attempts a play. When no play is attempted, R1 advances towards 3rd, PU is responsible for plays at 3rd and home. U1: Move into the best position to rule on plays at 1st and 2nd including drifting towards 1st if there is an attempted double play. U1 has all plays at 1st and 2nd and taking BR to 3rd. When PU must assume responsibility for R1, U1 becomes responsible for the overthrow and ball going out of play.
  7. @stkjock was just clarifying.
  8. I wouldnt rule this blocking the plate w/o the ball, but I am sure someone would.
  9. i think its because davidson expected a throw to 1B instead of reading the play and moving to 3BX. But this is also the same guy that rotated to 3B on a base hit, with no one on, and made his call at 3rd with his mask still on. gibson is the PU for MinvsKC Davidson is PU for MILvsMIA
  10. Finally, arrived & now hanging around. wish they had MLB Network
  11. On the road heading to missouri, looking forward to meeting new people and getting better at umpiring. Safe travels and God's protection for others also traveling!
  12. I like how the auditor has the precise measurement that the pitch was off and how all but one looked a little low.
  13. This is MiLB - Class A. This is the final result of the game, picking up from the protest. http://www.milb.com/r/video?content_id=445274783&topic_id=&sid=milb&tcid=vpp_copy_445274783&v=3
  14. By this angle and trying to compare it with the other shot. It looks @‌ the time of attempted tag, he was a foot or so off the line. The last photo I believe shows that he was past F2 already and that's when he is farther out. I feel it was a good 'no call'.
  15. PROTEST UPHELD! A wild play at the end of last night's Asheville-Charleston game resulted in a walkoff win for the RiverDogs. The Tourists, however, filed a protest claiming that the home plate umpire had called time after the tying run scored and before the winning run came across. The South Atlantic League concurred, and the game will resume at that point before tonight's regularly scheduled contest. Video: Your browser does not support iframes.
  16. It would be cool that once a year when the teams would wesr throw back, that the umpires would wear like gray or navy once.
  17. Hey guys, lately ive been researching the colors that the MLB Umpires use to wear, but I cant find much more past navy. A lot are the current light blue and black, but I was curious if anybody has any photos or links that show the different colors they use to wear. I've heard a lot of people say they liked it when they wore the gray, but I cant find anything on it.
  18. well, by the video there was a car in front of you, so technically you weren't the only one?
  19. As you may very well be a professional multi-tasker,i ask that you would please, for your safety, refrain from the use of your telecommunication device while operating a motor vehicle. If you wish to take a photo while the vehicle is moving, please be a passenger, and if there is no available driver so you can take a photo, it is best advised to pull over to the side of the road, turn on your hazards, and place the vehicle in park of course, then take the photo. Thank you kind sir! -From a fellow umpire friend (online) looking out for you!

    Balks

Is anyone w/ the Video going to the Mid-Camp In 2 week? If you are, would you bring it and maybe I could borrow it the night that we are free, since its only an hour long video.
  22. Do you think they will have the Ump Cam's used during the CWS for sale possibly?
  23. If a play like thwt happens any near the line and I am PU, ill point in the direction, whether fair or foul, then verify I have a clean catch or not. If you dont have a clean catch, and it was foul, then you can come up with your hands ssignaling foul. If it was fair, you can then signal "no catch" (safe signal) and play on. Much rather change fair to foul than viseversa.
  24. unless the BU and PU both know why PU is up there. He informed me when he would come up and have the backdoor at first, so I had in my mind that if the play was to happen he was going to be there. It's all about communication. It could be a problem if he never told me in pregame and then we both make a call.
  25. I have no idea, he just suggested it, he's much more experienced than me so I just went with it. Never heard anyone else mention it so I was just curious what everyone thought.
