Vic has had a pretty good zone both this year and last year in the Nats wild card game. His positioning on plays at the plate, I thought were spot on.. Did anyone see odor's infield single in extras, I thought Marquez was a little quick, agree? Disagree?

All the CC are @2nd for WC game and all CC are set to so game 5 behind the plate if necessary in the LDS. any reason CC are at 2nd for WC? Also would the rookies be more likely to do the CS instead of the WS?

Yesterday, 13u game. Top of the 2nd, Runner on 1st. Pitcher comes set, then disengages the rubber. R1 standing 7-8 ft from 1st base. Pitcher walks towards 1st, then finally throws the ball. R1 gets in a rundown. F3 chases runner to 2nd, tosses to F6 who chases him down to F1, who then chases the runner back to 2nd. F1 throws to F4, who places the tag on the runner, which I also see R1 lower his head and arms to power his way thru F4. As soon as I see it, I call R1 out, then eject him for MC. F4 hands me the ball and tries to catch his breathe. I turn to look where R1 went, he went straight out of the dugout into the stands. DC comes out (kids dad) to check on F4. OHC comes to me and ask why I threw his player out. I told him, I had MC, that he powered his helmet into the chest of F4. He claims his runner was trying to slide to 2nd, which he had no reason to slide whatsoever. he had no chance of reaching 2nd safely. DC pops off on the OC on why he would even come out and try to argue the ejection. OC mouths back to DC. I turn to the DC, told him enough and do what you came out here to do which is check on your son. I turned to the OC told him to knock it off, you came out to talk to me, not him, so talk to me. OC disagrees with the call, says it was horrible. I just let him say his last words and walk away. F4 turns out to be okay, no further issues took place. this is definitely the first time I've had MC at a base other than home plate. The OHC is the only person out of all the other coaches, players, parents, that felt it wasn't MC. Even the runner knew what he did and left immediately, didn't even bother to check on F4. My partner asked inbetween innings and made sure I had MC. He said he had it from HP. Gotta love 13u.

So, the coach failed to announce S7 is pinch hitting for B7. We assume as the umpires for this, S7 is pinch hitting for B6, due to B6 being up to bat. He now becomes the substitution due to stepping in the batters box. So, B6 is scratched. After the inning, B6 re-enters, making S7 illegal. When you return to the top of 3, B6 is the correct batter, on appeal, you have nothing. If the Coach brings it up before S7 hits, then you would need the offensive Coach know he needs to Sub B7 or the original B7 re-enters. The issue will come up with the next batter, after S7 hits, the defensive appeals, S7 is out and removed from the game and all R1 (b6) would return to base at the time of pitch. The coach would need to insert a sub for B7, or re-enter original B7, then you would start with B8, R1, and 1 out. If S7 hits comes to bat at the top of the 3rd, on appeal, S7 is out of the game and restricted. B6 is called out for batting out of order and B7, sub or re-enter B7, would be up w/ 1 out and no one on. I dont believe that B7 being replaced with an illegal sub prevents him from being able to re-enter, that is why I mention the original re-entering. I believe if the OC argues that S7 was suppose to be for B7, we should acknowledge we were not informed that way resulting in S7 being a sub for B6. The coaches error cost him a sub, (or player if he was suppose to inform the pinch hitting) also had he announced S7 was hitting for B7, he would of possibly caught that they were out of order.

i am not 100% on yhis, but once S7 comes to bat he has became that sub for B6. Since he went in the field for B7, B6 is an illegal, but becomes legal once he took the fiekld for the bottom half. Whenthe defense appeals that B6 is incorrect, it would be correct since B6 was originally up when the previous inning ended. So ive got noyhing on the appeal. had S7 came up instead of B6 and completed his at bat then i would rule batting out of order, B6 is out, B7 is up to bat... how does that sound? please be gentle if i am wrong.

Next question: R2 and R3, 1 out. Batter hits a pop fly in the infield, F4 and F6 go to get the ball, both call the ball then back off to let the other guy catch it. (Nobody catches it, both fielders move back away from 2nd) Ball comes down and hits R2 helmet while standing on 2nd. Ball then shoots off to the outfield and R3 scores, R2 advances to 3rd. What do you have?

no, we talked about the SS settled under a pop fly in left field with runners on 1st and 2nd. i also just remember that situation in the MIA vs LAD a couple of years ago, I remember there was a ruling placed in the book, but at first thought I would have been wrong. I also didnt know about it being caught even foul still resulted in batter returning to the plate.

a) Interference, R1 is out, Batter returns to bat. (also, if the ball is caught in foul territory, the batter still returns to bat) b) Interference, R1 is out and Batter is out. (OBR, Definition of Terms, Infield fly, last paragraph in comments)

Conditions do not exist either to ignore the CI, but I would also say conditions weren't met either. I think the proper ruling is to enforce the balk because it would reward the offense for the defensive error. Does that make any sense? Trying to type it is completely different than speaking in person and I don't want to come off as debating.

In my question, the answer I would have is to enforce the balk, because R3 did not advance on the hit. Had R3 advanced, the out call @2nd would stand, due to meeting the criteria to have it ignored, when the BR reaches first and all runners advance at least 1 base. 6.08 (c) I like the answer @grayhawk gave and I underdtand this would be a headache in an actual game. But I like it because it made me think.

This did not actually happen, just came to mind and was curious of the responses I would get.

R3, 1 out. OBR rules. Pitcher doesn't come to a stop, balks, batter swings and makes contact with the catchers glove, CI, fly ball to right field. Right fielder drops the ball, R3 (clueless) runs half way to home, retreats back to 3rd to retouch. ( R3 thought the ball was caught) R3 took a step towards home, but ends up back at 3rd. BR busted out of the gate and tries for 2. F3 cuts off the throw home and throws out BR at 2nd. What do you have?

You know arguments with coaches and they are set on one thing... such as..... Coach: blue, he stepped off with the right foot tho! Blue: coach his left foot came back before the right. Coach: but he stepped off with his right foot. Blue: but he started back with his left foot and he must continue to throw home. Coach: but that doesn't matter because he stepped off with his right

No clip yet, but was watching MLB network listening to the "analyst" say the pitcher balked by shrugging his shoulders, yet it was because he started back with the left then the right. The umpire communicate with each other and some do remember incidents between teams w/ different crews, such as baltimore and toronto incident that happened in baltimore between bautista and jones, then carried on into the series at toronto. But this incident involves a 1st pitch up and in near his head, a 2nd pitch slider away, then a 3rd pitch up andin that hits em.

What do you, college assigners, hs assigners, or even what milb is taught when it comes to signaling strikes? Ive heard some people say in 2-man you point towards the 1st base line, to keep your head forward and see anything that may happen while your signalling. In 3 or 4 man, you point towards the dugout? Was just curious, I noticed I've started pointing towards the dugout much much more often.

I am confused, were you asking about the rotation or just stating the rotation?

I'd like to think that the 9 inning game I first did only took 2.5 hours. I didn't think that was too bad considering I was by myself.
