i guess what most surprised me about this was two fold, if this was an adult league game, i guess it wouldn't have been as big a deal, and the pure amount he put in was shocking...he was nowhere near discrete (hell he had half a freaking tin in his mouth how could he?)

hey guys hope all is well...school is kicking my ass so i haven't been around here much.....i was thinking back to a game i had last yr and as i was walking onto the field w my partner he took out a tin and packed an entire horseshoe....this was an 8yr old LL game....(he offered me some which i politely declined) do any of you guy chew? and what are some of the regulations on dip for umpires?

Well its been awhile since I've been actively keeping up with this site and all i can say is wow. what an awesome post/blog. thoroughly enjoying it.

couple things here......1) says they were mad about an icing call in the first period. how mad could you get over one icing call in the first period? i doubt that one icing call lead to an 8 goal swing. 2) In the NHL on ice officials are required to stay on the ice until both teams are off the ice. they are required to be there for post game handshakes. assuming it is the same with FED so not the officials fault disclaimer- not a hockey official but an avid hockey fan

20140705_201434.jpg @Jocko which one are you? lol....anyway my .02 take it for what its worth....i watch a bunch of NFL games and how many times do we see players grab the refs uniform or tug there arms to show what another player did?? it happens. i don't think there was much of a push here but only one person in the world knows if it was intended to be a push or a mere sidestep. Lets be honest here if Peyton Manning does this or even another college QB (i.e. Mariotta) the commentators talk about it in between plays and then no one would mention it again also im commenting only on the push not the legal allegations or the FHRITP scandal

@James Walker by no means am i saying that it is right.....i know it is wrong. I've been umpiring for almost 7 yrs now and i think I've heard the are you qualified line maybe 3 times all before the game, and once i got a really good job blue after leaving the field so i turned their opinions around. that one time was also the most recent time when i was doing a very competitive adult wood bat league. that time when the question was asked i brushed it off and said with a smile "i wouldn't be here if i wasn't". the two times before that i gave smartass answers. (i never gave the answer i posted under option c in my last post that was meant purely as a joke) twice i said are you qualified to coach here. was it a good answer? no. could it have escalated things? definitely. did it? no, because i think the coaches in both cases got the opinion that i thought i was hot SH*# and was trying to make a name for myself, thankfully they didnt bite. while i hope i never give a smartass response again, if someone asks me if I'm qualified to work at this level w regards to my age they are definitely getting a firm "knock it off" as a younger umpire i consider this line to be along the same lines of any accusation of bias and while i won't toss just because of this, you best believe that coach is now on my radar

@mjr_2013 100% agree. nothing pisses me off more than someone questioning my age. if I'm on the field it should show that someone who knows plenty more about umpiring than you do thought i was suitable for this game. if i was asked how old i was i would respond honestly because sometimes it can be a gateway to a complement. (i.e. your as good as the older guys), but more often than not it is used in a derogatory fashion. if someone asked if i was allowed to umpire here as much as i wanna think id take the high road, id probably give them a smartass response back. id either say A) are you allowed to coach here? b ) no i just came cause i like the way navy blue looks on me or c) if i was really in a bad mood i could always go with a

Couldn't agree more. Mike Pereira the former head of officiating does the same thing that Carey does on FOX. Ive been saying that Pereira should replace Troy Aikman for yrs and I think Carey should replace Phil Simms. Id like to see a recently retired umpire (Tschida, Rapuano etc) do the same.

i don't have INT based on the replay starting at 0:34 (though in real time id prob have INT). F2 stepped on the batters back foot which was still in a legal position in the batters box. the arm and throwing motion was not hindered by anything else
