I watched the game. After that 1/2 inning, when they came back for the top of the 6th, the Tampa broadcast showed a blown up view of the play, and sure enough, it looks like a piece of the ball got the front left corner of the bag...amazing call.

As much as I hate to do it, I have to agree with Hawk here. I don't think he said anything that could really be disputed. My thoughts exactly. I might even add an "You've gotta be Bleepin' Me" :wow:

How can he do that?U3 wasn't blocked. He was right on it. Ball was 10-12 feet up in the air. Total judgement call. Ventura showed tremendous restraint.

Watching the Japan/Taipei game. The PU is anything but robotic. As a matter of fact, I think his called strikes are a bit over the top. Anyone se him ring the Japan batter up on K2? Pretty embarrassing. Been there..once...at least I wasn't on national TV. He's calling the pitches before the ball ever gets to the catcher. Yeah. He's quick.

There were 25,073 fans in the stadium. If you can hear "chirping" from the dugout over a crowd that size, it is ment to be herd. Angel gave the dodgers bench ample oppertunity to zip it. They didn't so he obliged them with a long distance heve-ho. There is a huge difference between general complaining in the dugout, and complaining directed towards an umpire. Fittske-I'm certainly in no position in my career as an umpire to disagree with game management skills of someone like you. I will say though, without the benefit of having an experienced umpire such as you explaining what's going on, and how this should be handled, these are the kind of incidents that to the average fan, it looks like an umpire injecting himself into a game where he didn't need to. Again, I respect your take and I'm sure you are correct. I think what we need is a voice telling our side of these stories in the major media. Can't MLB network or baseball tonight find a respected umpire to comment on these situations? Instead of listing to nothing but ex-ballplayers tell us how the umpire was out of line, blew the call, etc.??

Sorry. Freeze it at 1:39. That's the second the camera pans and Swisher appears in the picture. If you freeze it right you'll se U1 in mid-stride before the ball is even in Swisher's glove. He's not still at all.

I dunno. I know we should support our brothers in blue. That said, from the beginning I was told not to have rabbit ears. This looks to me to be a little to much of a young umpire being super sensitive to a little chirping. Yes, he needs to set the tone, not let things get out of hand. But he also seems to be injecting himself in a game where maybe a bit more tolerance on Campos part may have been prudent.

Campos had a tough day. Tossed Kemp also. Then I saw him do something I've never seen a MLB umpire do. I can't find a clip. I saw it on MLB network. Hanley struck out looking for a 3rd out, dropped the bat, and was standing there removing his batting gloves. Campos comes towards him, points to the bat, and tells him to pick it up. Hanley has a look on his face like . Unfortunately, that's where the clip ended. Don't know if Hanley picked up the bat or walked away leaving it for the bat boy.

You're correct. No one argued the call. I watched the game. Swisher didn't even get upset. As a matter of fact, I was listening to Thursday's game and they were saying after the game Swisher was asking to see a replay because HE didn't know if he held the bag or not. Now THAT'S close!

Hawaii manager Danny Stephens says he didn't see the runner miss third base, and told the San Bernadino Sun: I'd really like to see a replay on that, but there are a lot of replays in the tournament I'd like to see. Just another rat. I'm sure every call went against him in the tourney.

I thought they gave him a lot of rope when he argued the bobble of his F2. Looked like he was showing PU the footsteps of the runner claiming he never touched home.. Problem is, coach, your F2 never tried to tag the runner again after the bobble while the runner walked back and touched home. .

Called a strike on a chatty F2 when he was AB..Top part of the zone. He just gave me a look to show his displeasure. I told him "Top of the zone". So, of course, when he came out on on defense, first ball I call on the batter is a little up. So of course I hear "Same spot you called a strike on me, Blue". I simply told him... "You're taller" :jerkit:

I did a lot of LL tourney games in our district and we made it a point of reminding the HC's at the pregame conference to remind thier pitchers LL doesn't allow hands to mouth unless they're off the dirt portion of the mound. Only had to call it once in apprx 15 games

I watched both midwest semis today and some of the northwest semi. Thought the two midwest region PUs were excellent. The guy in the NW semi was a little too wide for me..but consistant, and well done also.

Old FED rule let the umpire call a runner out for missing a base without an appeal. Those days are gone. (though there might be a state or two where this is still done in FED games) Don't think there's any ruleset that allows this anymore.

Great hustle and positioning. His eyes are right up the line of the railing. No denying he nailed the call.
