valid ejection......basically he accused you of cheating.... I'll just add one thing,....I once had a coach tell me the same thing...."I'm on the board and you will never work here again"...... After the game, i called my assignor and told him to expect the call...... he said: Just keep doing your best... You will be umpiring long after he's out of baseball And there is no shortage of games for good umpires...

I know we are talking 6-7 yrs old.....so in the long run, what you called is what it is..... But....IMHO Don't "reward" players.....they are either safe or out......a great fielding play or base running hustle should not to be considered in whether someone is safe or out......you are asking for trouble.... I had a partner make a safe call on an amazing play by a SS....smash deep in the hole, SS slides on his knees gloves the ball and fires it to first........I'm coming up the line, the play is not really close, certainly not a banger but F3 stretches and gloves the ball....I got clearly safe in my mind, but I hear my partner say OUT! Partner said he had to reward that great play by the SS and a good stretch by F3...........and he then had to eject the 1st base coach and the HC,,,,,,,,,, They are safe or out.......tell the kid, great play later in the game.....but don't insert that into the game....call what you see..........

One pitch at a time brother...... When you find your zone wandering, take a step back, deep breath and get back in there.......track the next ball all the way in to the mitt....call it... one pitch two pitches.... one AB.... one 1/2 inning. one full inning.... send me a PM, we are in the same area......might have some local resources for you

Guys I'm beginning to think I'm a Jonah......... 2 weeks ago....I juggled my work schedule so I could take games 6 days in a row........ Result?......RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN................I get 2 mud-fests in.........2 out of 6 Last week....due to work and personal schedules (daughter graduating from nursing school), I was unable to take a game.... Result?......All games played, emails flying everywhere for make-ups and Bonus $ for DH and single games........ This week....Full schedule Results thus far?.............RAIN this am and rain in the forecast everyday this week........ I fully expect to be thrown overboard at the next assoc meeting..... not sure I blame them.

Let me correct one thing for you.... In umpiring, good judgment comes from experience.......unfortunately much of that experience can come from past bad judgment.... welcome to the site!

I'm remembering a quote from my dear friend Michael S Taylor......... "They may make the rule, But I'm the one who interprets it"................... If the local fools make local rules that are that vague, then it falls on us to make it work in the framework of the game we find ourselves....... so if I'm deciding ....... Then: 1 pitch is 1 inning Pitched...(pretty common and accepted interpretation in many codes) or: If one pitch is not thrown after entering as a pitcher, that pitcher would not be credited for a game pitched....(so 1 pitch is a pitching outing per OBR rule 10) Then: 1 inning pitched is an outing. And that's my interpretation for todays game........please feel free to take this to the jackwagons who wrote this vague monstrosity and clarify it at a board meeting.... Play ball........

I'm not going to elaborate too much on my opinion here as I think @maven hits it out of the park...... To me, it would all come down to who I was partnered up with.......if its one of my regular veteran guys, I'm pretty certain all I would need to do is wait and see if my rodeo clown skills might be needed to get the game back underway..... In all our associations, I'm sure we all teach umpires that they should handle their own business..........but less experienced partners are another issue entirely.......I have intervened, I have taken over the discussion when my partner was overwhelmed, I have ejected coaches for things they said to my partner, when it was clear they were just going to stand there and take a whipping....

Saw Porter on tv this week sportin a WV Gold so that leaves Joyce as the only K1 wearer. I've noticed a few wearing the old All American Protector...all young guys too.... Bellino, Conroy, and Baker. My back up rig is a Honigs K1............I know guys who have worn it in college ball and even heard that some MLB umpires wore it in MLB.......but since i went WV Platinum, I have only worn my K1 for sub-JV level summer ball.... I just dont have the confdence in it that the Plat gives me.

OUT....every year you will have to explain this to a new coach ...............

all those are as old as the hills.............

Agreed with Matt, with the exception of FED, this is legal..........with players that shave, they need to know what the situation is......and listen to the umpire, not the opposing team..

good for you tony!, keep fighting............we will continue the prayers without ceasing........

outstanding!...you are set for a good long time....... at whatever level you reach.....
-
That link is to the previous MLB style......but is the style most commonly worn by many of us from college on down............so give your partner a call and get a clarification.....

Congrats on a great experience......

If I had 20 inch shin guards, they would have to come with a way to attach my cup!!

Just be the umpire you know you can be............you got that........(you can go back to being 14 after the game).........best of luck.....let us know how it went......

Which I have seen........the moment we started walking towards the field the bats come off the top of the dugouts........
-
I have seen only one bat that I knew was rolled....and the only reason I know that was the guy told me it was,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it was an adult mens softball bat.......no obvious markings, no tampering evidence and the end cap looked pristine... No way from my visual review could I tell it had been tampered with......

OP is what we used to call an "easy chicken"...............balk balk balk.........

visiting my daughter who is stationed at Fort Leonard Wood............the HP umpire did a solid chainsaw pull mechanic......and called "hoooooooooooahhhh"
