Maybe I am missing something.  I agree with everything you said, but I am stumped at trying to figure out which myth is being perpetuated here.

This was just a plain #$@! up.  Time had been called, by at least two umpires, and had not been put back into play (made live).

What am I missing?

Well, just the fact that this continues to happen and people really don't argue it. By itself, that can mean that they think it's legal.

Take the 3bc of a power five school... doesn't even put up even a little stink about it! This is such an easy fix...why not say something...esp with who I think is the CC right there at 3b.

I truly believe that they don't know the rule...or not well enough in that game to care a whole lot.

Actually they know the rule the runner broke and that’s why he deserves to be out. “Don’t lead off until F1 takes the rubber”. 😊

What continues to happen?  Calling a runner out during a dead ball?

These are just the plays that show up on the Internet (Teams getting outs for running the HBT out of a dead ball)

I hear it when mound visits conclude "Watch for the HBT"

There's nothing to watch for, they literally can't do it.

Four SEC umpires didn't know the rule...or maybe three of them did and didn't want to step on the CC. (that's a separate issue)

CC has a CWS under his belt.

So you expect them to know that they have to protest before the next pitch?

Well, gulp, after trying to logically think about this and coming to the conclusion that if they didn't know this rule, they didn't think they had a protest-able situation. Mea culpa.

But, we didn't see the whole replay, did we? Maybe the coach came out afterwards and asked about it before the next pitch?  Maybe the coach was in the shi**er and didn't see the play?  Maybe the coach was too mad at his player and was getting ready to chew him out?  Maybe the coach was distracted by Morgana the kissing bandit...  Could have happened, like monkey's flying out of my butt.... (cut me some slack as I am trying to save face here)....

I'm really stumped. How does an alleged CC and CWS umpire call time, and then bang the runner out? Even if it's a brain fart, which we've all had, it ended the inning. When we brain fart, usually, within a few seconds, we realize. "Holy crap, I screwed the pooch on that call." That means he should have had time to say "Damn, I need to get the crew together and fix this". Maybe U2 doesn't want to make waves even though he knows he called time also. Maybe PU and U1 didn't see the call of time. But to call time and the calla runner out?...And not try to fix it?  I don't get it.

at least one U has several CWS's, one has 1 and another has super regionals which means 3 have multiple regional and super regionals because you have to have them to keep moving up the line. the 4th may have regional or super regional but i could only find a Conference one with the American Athletic Conference but that is still high enough to know the ole hidden ball trick.

from watching this only, just guessing most teams and players would probably be so embarrassed when tagged, and hear the out call, that they do not want to ask questions and just want to get the heck off the field and go hide, since they feel like a goof for letting it happen, and not staying on the base, when you don't know where the ball is to start with. not a good look for the base coach either. never take your eye off the ball, nothing can happen without it. and ole miss was up 10-5 in the 5th inning of a 7 inning game, so they might not have the wheels spinning to ask about it. the quicker you forget about it the better, since fans just saw it and it is on the internet for all to see.
