Your Thoughts on Team Wendy Helmet Replacement Pads in Cobalt (or other) Skull Cap?

So, this weekend I was reading all the positive reviews on Team Wendy products, whether they be the TW mask pads, or chest-protector retrofits.  This got me going to the Team Wendy website, and I found a bunch of helmet pad replacements (for military helmets), and it made me wonder if these would work as replacement pads in the Cobalt skull cap, which by design has replaceable pads.  

Here's a link to one set-of TW replacements, but they have a wide variety for different helmets, starting as low as $15.90!

While I endorse your concept, I think the target is wrong. I genuinely think that the All-Star Cobalt Skuly is "Adequate" to "Above Average", as-is. If Team Wendy pad retrofits would really benefit umpire (and catcher) protective equipment, I'd be looking squarely at such products as existing / conventional skullcaps (I call them hardhats), which typically have a token leather band liner and a foam puck at the top, and several HSMs that are woefully under-padded. Additionally, their pads often foul, become brittle, and then either decay or outright fall out (Wilson Shock FX!!!!!). 

Wilson once again shafted umpires – their primary "exclusive" supplied market in baseball – by not only terminating the Shock FX model, but eliminating any replacement pad sets for it. You'd think they'd have something. 🤔

Thanks for the input Max.  I just focused on the Cobalt because I have one already - I love it, especially the fact you can mix and match padding (I bought a set of medium replacement pads, so I mix the with my large original pads for a M/L fit).  But I figured if the Team Wendy were an upgrade to the standard pads for relatively little money it might be worth it.

how often would the air liner system last? if you have a cradle to grave chest protector (carlucci you wish, go sneak into a clubhouse through the vents and get Barrett's. should be just like going through vents to get a bat) and shinguards, the only out of pocket expense would be the mask and changing the airliner system, related for quite sometime. yea yea i know shoes. and of course uniforms (if they change styles a lot).

I did put TW Zap pads into an All Star bucket at the forehead, for some extra protection. I don't think I ever took a shot after that, so there's now way of telling. But, being a TW fan, I did FEEL safer, over the garbage that most HSM's have at the forehead. I gave that helmet away a few years ago, but the pads did hold up. 

You can sometimes find the those pads on eBay for a decent price.

Agree, I keep thinking and hoping someone will buy a bunch of these and retro-fit their CP.  I'd do it, but I keep chickening out over cost & waste.

Having had a TW retro-fitted CP, I'd say most of benefit was in the "cool factor", and not so much the protection, like the mask pads. 

It was slimmer, though, and that was great.
