Someone needs to let that UIC know that he is either wrong, or misinterpreted the question being asked of him.

Does he use that same interp for a dropped 3rd strike too? Who cares about the whole 'before the batter (or batter-runner) makes 1B thing... Ya know... How runs are scored

Did not say I agree... just submitting what the interp is from Western Region which I thought would be interesting since this was a LL 50/70 game we were discussing.

So to make my morning more interesting... and to agree with @ALStripes17 who stated that the UIC was unlear... this hit the in-box 20 minutes after yesterdays post:

 

So I was continuing to struggle with your strike 3 R3 question so I went to MLB and spoke to an umpire who sits in the Rules committee. Nice to have friends in high places. Anyway, the MLB interpretation so that the pitch will ALWAYS take precedence and there is no intervening play in the scenario you presented. As such strike 3 is priority and the run does not score. I apologize for incorrect interpretation but now we have the OBR response right from the source.

At least he was able to admit he was incorrect... Crazy how often those who are wrong and are proven wrong will still continue to cling to their beliefs and will ride that horse right into the ground.

I don't know Mark personally, but he seemed like a stand-up guy at the clinics that I attended.
