Do you guys collect lineup cards from both teams at the plate meeting no matter what level you do? Obviously at varsity levels and on up the plate umpire collects lineups, but I'm curious what you guys do at lower levels.

I collected four this weekend from Little League Majors and Minors teams.

I collect them for every game except scrimmages.

Out in here in Iowa, from what I've noticed so far, they only fill out lineups for Varsity and above (free substitution).  Just did a USSSA tourney today and there were no lineups either.   I personally enjoy not having to deal with lineups and subs, so I'm diggin' it.

I do collect lineups for about 99% of the games I do. I also have a collection of old line up cards in my equipment bag.

I collect and keep the cards. I work mostly Varsity and above. We re asked to keep the cards, in case a pitching question is brought up. Our state has pitching regulations that go by number of innings pitched (HS). Our cards can be called in if there is a question from the state.

I keep the line-up cards for every game I'm working.  I record all substitutions, line-up changes, and courtesy runners.

During the summer I don't and many times for JV and down I won't. Most times the coaches want open subs.

But always for Varsity games and up. Or for elimination games in tourneys when it may matter I probably will, but that is rare.

Do you know how many ejection reports I read, talking about how he tossed "the big kid with glasses?" Kinda tough to follow through to the League.....Collect them, and if you don't need them, trash them....

Varsity both school and summer league as well as Adult league I do was told by vet. umpire that the  reason you take them not only for ejection reports but if game is suspened the lineup card maybe used to determine who is in the game etc. After game and no issue I trash them.

Only for school games and the Dreams Parks tournaments.  I throw them out after the game.  Thus far, the world hasn't ended.

If coaches bring me a lineup card, I use it as much as I am able. In HS games, even Frosh, I record everything and insist that coaches notify me of changes and substitutions. Some leagues only require coaches to keep subs among themselves so the lineup card is a moot point. Some leagues have open substitution and continuous batting order; also a moot point. Even still, I use a lineup card to keep score (so I know when I can get the hell out of there on a mercy rule) and record conferences. I also want to have something to write on incase I need to record jersey numbers or coach descriptions should there be an incident I may have to answer for down the road. So far, that hasn't been necessary.
