After many hours of reading posts on this and other forums around the web I've decided to take the plunge and invest in an Unequal chest protector.  I have lost a significant amount of weight and I would like that to extend to my gear...I have a first generation West Vest Gold and a Champion hard shell too, but I really like the idea of a lower profile CP...

Doing a scrimmage today, wearing my UE CP, one of my partners comes up to me and says, "where's your chest protector?".

BTW, I'm now down to a 36 inch pant and an L-XL shirt!!

If you are in need of shins I would look to ABUA for the package deal they offer. (shins & CP at a discounted $)

3 votes for that proposal of purchasing the shin guards with the chest protector offer.  Also you might want to add an ABUA membership and hit a triple.

You won't be disappointed, at least I wasnt. I think you can get the CP and SG for the same price as buying the CP seperate. So might as well pull the trigger on both.

I have had the UE CP for a year and a half and the shins for almost a year and highly recommend them both. I'd suggest you get both as the shins are widely regarded as the best on the market.

I have a fairly new pair of All Star shins, but I think I'm going to go ahead and get the package.  I'm on ABUA, but I didn't see where to get the package at the discount?  Anyone have an idea?

FYI, I've gone from a 46 waist to a 40 and still losing.  From a 3X top to an XL, and of course my knees feel a thousand percent better...

Congrats again on the inches loss.  Remember, it's really inches not lbs you are mostly worried about.   

 

To get to the discount on ABUA.  Log in to umpire.org.  Click the store tap on upper right side of home page.  Should default to the shinguards sale page. If not, find the shins for sale listing.  Near bottom of that page it offers the option to add the CP and/or the Defender mask for a price.  I think Shins are $99.95 plus $150 or so for the CP.  Mask is like $135 or something.

I just saw the ABUA monthly newsletter.  It has a free shipping offer on orders of $20.15 or more for March first 15 days with the code 2015SPRING.  Thought some might want to take advantage of this.

I got the free membership since we have to have NASO here. Shins were $115 and the chest was $150. I think shipping was pretty cheap, like $10 reasonable.

Do you have to buy from PIAA "official" suppliers? I get shirts and hats. CBUAO had pants and ballbags with their logo required. But protective gear? That's not fair to require you to buy and not offer some price break. Just wrong.

The only thing you MUST buy are PIAA patches and hats.  Everything else its your choice.  Of course if you get your shirts from Honig's you have to go get your patches sewn on.  Depends on your inconvenience threshold.

Dave -

To my surprise, at the CBUAO meeting last weekend - Nick actually said that the pants and ball bags aren't required any more. The pants just need to match in color and the bags need to be black.

This is different than the past years - also no uniform changes this year!!

Great for you guys.  I was going to work in the Cape Cod league in 2009 and it was going to cost me some serious coin to get CBUAO geared up to work for Nick.  I wound up going to Afghanistan instead.  Lucky me!  We have a couple of guys here I work MSBL and Summer college wooden bat leagues with that work for CBUAO in college spring conference games and they sometimes sport that heavily logo'd gear in the summer.  A bit much when you wear it all.  Hat, shirt, pants and ballbags.
