window tinting

Amen!

When I bought my my I told the dealer I was not taking possession until the Windows were tinted.

I've never figured out the reason why you would buy a rather large $120+ umpire bag and then either carry/hang or put your clothes in a separate bag. There is plenty of room in all of the umpire-specific bags to put several sets of uniforms. Plus, they don't fade while hanging in the back of your car on hangers for months on end.

That's part of the reason I returned the big 33" or 36" Diamond bag I bought last year. I'm sure it's great for umpires who travel a lot, but pretty much everywhere I go is within (at most) a couple hours from my house, so I don't see the appeal.

Plus, if I hang my shirts and pants in my car, then they aren't creased when I go to wear them. I also don't leave them in my car when I'm not on my way to/from a game, so they aren't just wasting space and fading in the sun.

I've put my uniforms in my bag for years now and they are never wrinkled when I take them out

It doesn't block out the sun entirely. And some states/locales don't allow much tinting.

And I think it looks goofy driving around with clothes hanging in the back of your car all the time, like you're living out of your car.

LOL! Definately!

Only on game days, and tournament weekends are things "hanging" in my SUV :D

There is no way that clothes coming out of a bag are going to look as good as hanging clothes.

Agreed. I hang the uniforms unless I have to go on a plane.

And if I go on a plane, the clothes go in a garment bag, not on the bottom of my gear bag.

I can't count the number of times I've had partners who fold their poly-wools inside their expensive gear bag pull them out with fold wrinkles horizontally across the pants. Not so much the shirts if folded. But the pants. Looks so bush. That's why I don't fold and stuff in the bag. With the garment bag they are protected from UV/sunlight fading and incidental dirt and lint. I had my number (22) sewed onto the garment bag by Honigs when I ordered it. Looks very good in my opinion.

Okay Navy! Or is that swabbie? I don't have a sea bag. Hahaha! The Army said do that too in a duffel bag. Works sometimes. Cannot pack/stuff the bag too tightly though. Been there. Done that.

Mr Swabbie to you, dogface-LOL!

Try it.

Roll some polywools and a jersey.

Pack them in a bag.

Put them in your trunk.

After 3 days take them out and see.

They can start providing irons in the locker room if they don't like my wrinkled pants.

I have an E-Bag for a reason - clothes and equipment in 1 bag.

I have no desire to advertise to everyone that I'm an umpire by hanging clothes in the back of my car.

If you worked the Jayhawk JUCO Conference Jason you'd have gotten a free snazzy logo'd garment bag last year. Hahaha. I lay mine flat in back of my Superior Umpire Vehicle. (Tip of my hat to whomever came up with that explanation of the acronym.)

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers on the wrinkled pants comment. Us military vets can't stand wrinkled pants. It's an OCD affliction. To each his own. And, nobody probably notices anyway. Except us OCD types. Hahaha.

That's why mine don't even have that one big wrinkle straight down the front and back of each leg.

At least that's the story I use. ;)

I drove 11 hours over 2 days (6 on Thursday & 5 on Friday) to a game last year. Gear and uniforms packed in my bag. I took my pants out of the bag when I got to the dressing room and the only "wrinkles" were where they were folded over and they weren't wrinkled in the true sense of the word. If you take care of your clothes, fold them properly and pack them properly they won't be a wrinkled mess when you unpack.

The teams will remember the calls you kick much more than they will the wrinkle in your pants leg.

Don't let anybody other than myself iron my uniforms.

It's not just the military vets that hate creased uniforms and misaligned gig lines...

How many people even know what a gig line is? Amateurs.

I'm working for FedEx this Christmas season as a delivery driver. I swear I'm the only guy who tucks his shirt in and has creases in his pants. It's weird. Or maybe I'm weird. It is a uniform. I seem to gravitate to jobs with uniforms. Okay, I'm weird. I can live with it.

And for some reason there's very few men left (at least around here) that seem to understand how long a tie should actually be. It's sad, really.
