Steal - play at 2nd - Positioning

This play is reviewed and overturned, fine, ...but.... what caught my eye was the positioning of CG on this play.  He lets the ball turn him to the play, but never moves into the play.  Isn't he a little too far?

Just bad mechanics. Like it caught him by surprise.

Might be the lack of a the dirt affecting his perception of where he was even though they have a line.

you are always supposed to let the ball turn, on every play, where ever the ball is hit. Chris was in a great spot, and did what he was supposed to, and he even took a peak cause the slide was outside to watch and see the the tag was or if the runner slid past the base.

 

Once you start to work 3 man, and 4 man.. you will learn on steal plays that all you need to do is wait for the ball, let it turn you, this is just a crossover step to be in the right position.
