Saw this video a year or so ago.

Coach is an idiot as well as the commentator at the end.

Also the umpires need to remain calm. Way to aggressive.

I have had partners that would indulge coaches and talk about plays on my calls and there isn't much else that pisses me off more. This is a nuance of umpiring that isn't followed by many umpires. All PU needs to say is, "coach, I am not talking about a call on a play that wasn't mine."..and send him back.

I had a similar sitch last year. HC and I discussed, we were done, I went back to C, HC went back to the dugout, then took a detour to talk to my partner. I started out the way this BU did, I hollered to my partner and asked if he was talking about this play. When he said yes, I jogged (briskly) to HP area and probably came off too strong, insisting that HC get back to the dugout. No EJ, but I was more than a bit animated. I don't know if I was more pissed at HC or my partner.

That's the thing, though. Incompetence breeds incompetence. As a unit, you have to trust each other. In this, trusting your partner to deal with the mommy/daddying is paramount, because having any conversation with anyone across the field about a disputed call leads to bad things. If he fails, and you yell across, then his incompetence just caused you to lower your competence.

If he fails to do what he should, do what you would do as the outside umpire in any other conversation. Approach and get within listening distance. If you need to engage, then you can do it in a controlled manner.

The only hollering I did was to ask if my partner if they were talking about my play...the dealing with HC was up close and "firm". But I agree, I could have handled it better. I should not have called to my partner,  I should have just walked/jogged down there to see what was going on and handled it when I knew for a fact that they were talking about my play.

And just to be clear, I didn't mean your overall skill level. We are all better at some times than at others, and what our partner does can have an effect on that.

I certainly agree in this situation the coach does not get to talk to the other umpire about this call.  However, I don't believe a coach going to the other umpire warrants an automatic ejection as in the video.  If he goes to your partner I think you have to give your partner a little bit of time to find out if he is asking about your call, tell him he will not talk about it, and send him back to you or the dugout.  He could be going to your partner to discuss something else entirely.  If that doesn't happen, and your partner inexplicably allows the conversation about the play(your call) you get in there and cut it off.  Then you have as big a problem with your partner as you do the coach.  In the video he didn't seem to give his partner a chance to shut him down, and then overreacted to the situation.  It's interesting to me that it seems to be some sort of exhibition or All-Star game.  The players are all wearing different uniforms.  Not sure why there would be that much anger in that type of situation.

No problem, I thought your original point was spot on.

Automatic in all situations? No. However, if you would have tossed him for continuing the discussion with you (that is, it meets the criteria for prolonged,) then this has to be an ejection.

This.  In the video, it might not have avoided an EJ, but it sure would have looked better if the PU immediately chased the coach back to the dugout.

Umpires need to remember when we respond harshly to coaches we give them ground to stand on. I agree the PU should have cut off the coach and stated it was not his call then send him back to his dugout. As umpires we are held at a higher standard, we must always remain professional on the field. Hollering at coaches who have been ejected is uncalled for regardless if the EJ was needed or not. This escalated way too quickly in my opinion and it caused more attention than needed due to the BU actions.

BU was way over the line and the PU was a sissy BUT regarding the BUs action and attitude:

This is how you should handle coaches:

I can watch this every day and it makes me smile every time.

I love that there's just the to tiniest hint of a smile from Mr Layne. It wasn't until I'd seen it a few times that I noticed it. The perfect example of being unable to misquote silence.
