I just noticed @Trakes2 signature. I know is a line from one of the best movies and best voices in the industry.

BUT if you don’t get a little chill when you read it you probably should not be in this game.

I enjoyed Trouble with the Curve.  Also, For Love of the Game is decent - the baseball scenes, anyway.

One of my Favorites! (I love Ty Cobb...I've done some extensive research on him and actually wrote 2 papers on him in college...)

 

When I teach the research process to my 10th grade students, Cobb is subject. It continually amazes me not how much they do not know about him, but how many of them have never even heard of him! 

 

I accept their ignorance as my signal to enlighten them a little about something that is not on any test.

Doc Graham was a real person. Played college ball at UNC. Was their first pro recruit!

I love just about any baseball movie though. 

 

I regularly quote and joke with catchers using lines from baseball movies during games.

 

One of the catchers during my plate in today's game was a big Bull Durham afficionado.  He said they watched it on way to Kansas from Iowa yesterday.  We had a large time talking about pitchers not thinking and pitching whatever they want.  "don't think meat.  You can only hurt the ballclub."   After a homerun.  "Damn!  That thing got out of here in a hurry.  Anything that travels that far that fast ought to have a stewardess on it."   Also some Major League by me.  "Someone ought to teach this kid some control before he kills somebody!"  "What's this ole' Bull$hit Dorn?"

 

Love it.  Had so much fun.  Warm, breezy, in the low 60's.  Spring is here!  Finally!

 

I also like the Mickey Mantle/Roger Maris movie, Safe at Home.  Watch it every season along with the two above.

I can watch baseball movies again and again...some great choices in these posts.

 

There's an old, obscure 1949 movie called, "It Happens Every Spring." The premise of the movie is that a guy creates a chemical that is repelled by wood. As you can imagine, once he starts pitching to hitters, the ball has some great movement. I was fascinated when I first saw this one as a kid. And special effects have come a long was since.  So don't expect a well-made classic. This one's just for fun.

Crash's I believe rant...I believe that there should be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter.

As much as I love the constitutional amendment against AstroTurf position of Crash Davis I have to say that in most states during college baseball season in February and early March we wouldn't get to play very much if at all without turf. So, I advocate a suspension of that amendment during those months.

Ive said it numerous times around family and friends. Only the true baseball fans really appreciate the humor.
