I could bring up simplicities such as a friend of mine was the first wheelchair umpire to work a professional game or even that my blind daughter more than likely knows more about umpiring than some ignorant ________s.

But I digress.

The simple answer to this whole situation is... "yes they can be in the unit. Yes they can umpire. No I do not have to assign them to games." We all know that we are independent contractors and work at the whim of our assigners.
