This was sooo ridiculous. 

 

I'm not convinced either of those pitches were intentional. I mean, Kemp was hit on an 0-2 pitch! And Quentin was hit on a 3-2 pitch that looked like a breaking ball that didn't break coming in at 89mph.

 

What happens because Quentin "takes offense" to this? We have a 15+ minute delay, bullpens getting their windsprints in, and a  $150 millon dollar star pitcher breaking his collar bone by sumo wrestling on a baseball diamond!

 

Honestly, baseball needs to stop this nonsense. No other sport allows their benches to solve problems. For God's sake, hockey is one of the most violent sport there is, and if you come off the bench to join a hockey brawl it's an automatic 10 game suspension!

Charge the mound = fine equal to 5% of your yearly salary + minimum 5 game suspension (Quentin makes $9.5 million this year, so his fine would be $425,000)

 

Ejected for bean ball = automatic meeting and incident review with commissioner to be held as soon as possible to determine intent and hand out suspensions or fines as needed. Automatic suspension for remainder of series (which doesn't mean much usually).

 

Leave the bench, bullpen, or natural position on field = fine equal to 0.5% of your yearly salary (Justin Sellers makes $500,000, so his fine would be $2,500)

 

Get ejected from a bench clearing incident = fine equal to 2% of your yearly salary + minimum 1 game suspension (Matt Kemp makes $20M, so his fine would be $400,000)

 

Manager of a team during bench clearing incident = fine equal to 2% of your yearly salary + hearing and review with commissioner to determine additional suspension as needed.

 

Team fine of $500,000 for first bench clearing incident in a five year period

Team fine of $1,000,000 for second in a five year period

Team fine of $2,000,000 for third

$5,000,000 for fourth

$10,000,000 for fifth

 

And so on.

I'd imagine you're already hot from getting hit and then you have a pitcher egging you on. We had two grown men who wanted to beat the piss out of each other. Nothing else to see here. Haha.
