Guys,

I just got my WVG today and as I tried it on I found one thing that bothers me.  At the end of my collarbone (right below my chin) the neck pad really digs in.  I tried loosing it a bit and when it isn't touching that part of my collarbone it feels great, but I think it may be too loose and perhaps exposes too much.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Agree you want it snug.  If you find yourself having to readjust during the game you have it too loose.  Also if it's not snug it won't conform to your body well.

I would bend back the offending padding with my hands as much as possible to see if you can fix things.  Otherwise try to find the sweet spot between snugness and comfort.

Also remember it will start a little stiff and will contour to you as you wear it.

Wear it around the house for a while let SWMBO ridicule you and it should be fine.

This is great advice.  You just have to wear it.  It will break in.  Give it time.  We promise.

Try putting in your bag with shoulders rolled back to help put a curl in the top. Wearing it while watching TV will help break it in too as mentioned

I know you guys say to wear this tight. In order to get it to conform to my body it has to be tight enough that it makes it impossible to get it off my head (i.e. not enough room between the collar bone and harness to get my head out) without loosening it.

As you can probably imagine, this is a gigantic pain in the ass. I don't know if getting a different harness may do the trick. I was also worried I may have gotten the wrong size (5'10,170 with a 44" chest), but I don't think that's it because I went with the M-L.

Took my first shot with it today and didn't notice it outside of the sound, so I love this CP already. The only problem is needing to adjust it to get it on, then off of me is really annoying.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the Delta Flex harness? Might make a difference.

I ha a hard time getting mine on and off before I added a delta-flex harness. Makes a huge difference if you have a big head large neck.

I'll put a 3rd vote in for the delta flex. Makes all the difference in the world.

I have heard of people who've had problems with the All-Star harness because of the strap length at the shoulders making it harder to get in on and off the head/neck.

I don't have any problems with being comfortable with the manufacturer's harness. I only care about having the chest protector snug and getting my head out of it without needing to adjust the straps beforehand.

I took off the plastic pieces on the top straps and just looped them through  and sewed the straps. That makes the upper straps of the delta flex long enough to get your head through.

I have a force 3 and put the delta harness on it. Wish I had always used this harness.

The top straps on the delta are shorter. I took my WVG harness and delta harness to my local shoe repair guy. He replaced the the top straps on the delta harness with the top straps from the WVG harness. Worked like a charm. I had the same thing done on my Douglas.

After I sold my WVG to finance an Unequal, I put a delta flex on it and did not have to customize the straps. Fits like a glove. I don't think I will ever wear a CP without a delta-flex if I can help it. It really makes a big difference. Plus it seams that the straps get twisted less making it easier to put a CP on.

I found the DF too small too use with the Gold (without modifications) but fit well on the Platinum

I found with a new gold you have to roll the shoulders before and after every use for a while, it will break in after a bit. Personally you couldn't give me a gold but many swear by them.

Can you elaborate on how you "roll the shoulders"???  Do you just bend them a few times or store them with weight on them to get them to conform?  Like how you would break in a new baseball glove?
