Hey guy`s I`ve searched but could not find any thing specific about my question. Has anyone been able to attach a flat pad or plas. piece to the bottom of a gold cp.??. If so what did you use and how did you do it???.  I have thought about one of those rib protector`s like the football guy`s wear but turn it around to the front??.  Any idea`s    Thank`s  Kraig

I haven't seen one or know anyone who has done it.

Are you taking that many shots to the gut that it is something that really needs to be done?

I wear a Wilson Gold CP and the amount of gut shots I have taken can be counted on one hand with fingers to spare.

I would never consider adding anything to mine.

I've thought about doing the same thing.  I would think you'd need to drill holes in the plastic and then use the screws and posts to secure it.

CMON BLU

What are your stats?  How tall, how much do you weight, what size dress shirt neck do you have, or suit size?

1) What size Gold do you have?

2) Have you tried one on and know where it comes on your ribs?

3) All-Star, and Douglas have 15" CPs ....

Remember, it's all personal opinion.  If you feel more comfy with a longer CP, then sobeit.  A LOT of the pros are wearing 12 and 13" CPs and their bottom ribs aren't even close to being covered but again, it depends on body-type

I had a Gold and loved it - but it was just a bit short for my comfort. Not only was I admittedly worried about an upper gut shot, but the bottom of the final rib was exposed. Not by much, but enough. I considered doing the same and saw it done - someone glued a velcro strip (you can get them at hobby stores) and attached the Champro extension.

Or just do what I did - buy a 15" All-Star System 7. Not quite as padded but great armor, considerably cooler to wear, and easier to clean.

I prefer a 15" CP, but it's more a mental thing. Like Lou, I've had maybe 2 or 3 gut shots in my career. I just prefer 15". Try a Champion. Inexpensive, comfortable, great protection.

Thousands of pitches.  Never one close to the "upper gut"

Maybe work on your stance.

Got to agree here. I'm not a seasoned vet with thousands of games under my belt, but I've taken plenty shots to the shoulders, chest, thighs, shins, feet, crotch. Can't think of a single shot to the gut. (I'm sure I'll get one now first time out this spring

I have a 14" Douglas and I wish it was a 13" model.  It is longer than I would like.  I'm an idiot though because I bought a 13" when Douglas was about to quit making them the first time around when they were $100 but ended up selling it on eBay for a fairly small profit.

Both of you are now doomed this year! :D

I've taken two in the last two years, one a fairly mild glancing blow from a crossed-up catcher, the other a pretty hard hit right smack in the middle from a 55 foot bouncer. In the end it wasn't that bad, I guess, but it doubled me over at the time.

It's personal preference but I don't see a reason to go through the trouble. Sent from my Kindle Fire HD 32GB

I've been hit in the fat muscle numerous times. Those 55' fastballs hurt.

Discretion is the better part of valor! It's not like I'd miss a game for it, but as stu says, fat muscle hurts. We have the technology....

Kinda like back in the day at all the infantrymen who grunted about tough they were as I drove by them in my warm tank. Outta the way, suckers.

Trout, ...

Are you comfy enough to wear an Unequal behind the plate in a HS game?
