I said it's a rumor I heard.  My source is pretty reliable.  My guess would be if they are coming out with one, the MLB guys will field test them first before they are made available to the public.

MidAmUmp, ...

No, that doesn't make sense, not with NB being the supplier to the MLB guys, right?

Again, I have no other knowledge than what I was told by a fairly reliable source...that at some point this year Nike is coming out with a plate shoe.  I'm simply making a guess that they would field test them with MLB umpires first, but that's all it is...a guess on my part.  Maybe they'll test them with the MiLB guys.

Sorry, that came across the wrong way....I was just thinking out loud ....  MiLB guys testing them makes sense though I'd assume.  Whatever you find out, we'd love to hear it! :D

Can't see Fittske's picture for some reason.

I wore my Zigs for a four inning scrimmage on Saturday.  They are just as comfortable and lighter than the old Reeboks.  They definitely have a different look to them.  My pants got caught up on the back of them more than I hoped they would.

Mine will sit in a box for another two months unless I decide to go find some baseball with some of the vacation time I need to burn. I wish manufacturers would use umpires like us for field testing. Sure, MLB umpires provide product visibility, but it isn't a great test when those guys only work 30ish plate jobs in a full season on perfectly manicured fields. I agree completely with this.  I will work easily 50 plates this year...which is a gross understatement.

If Fitts' picture of the Nike plate shoe is legit, I like it.

I like it. The NIKE across the back is rather large. The soles look very functional. Looks pretty easy to maintain. In short, I want a pair. If/when they're available, I will definitely have them on my wish list.

Looks like the MLB logo on the metatarsal

I just got off the phone with my contact with Nike, practically runs the baseball department and he knows nothing about an umpire shoe. He said that shoe would come out of the cleated dept. and he would know if it was in development. He says he is 99% sure it's a no, but there is that 1 percent !!! Lol

Thanks Chris.... What about the potential of a base shoe? Can you ask that? Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
