post game ejection

The following video isn't of me, but of an umpire who I know personally. He's an experienced umpire who does HS, Pony, and travel ball. I watched this video a while back, but didn't realize it was him until he mentioned that there was a video of him on youtube. Anyway, after the game winning strikeout, F2 points in his face and says "how do you like that?!" F2 is immediately tossed, followed by 2 coaches (the coaches used histrionic gestures and accused him of being biased against their team). Enjoy and comment.

I did not see anything that F2 did wrong --unless tension in the game it looks like the ump had a quick hook for something I did not see.

I'm thinking "Game Over", unless what is said post game is REALLY BAD and obvious, I'm not really listening to F2.

According to the OP "How'd you like that?" doesn't even rate in my book!

Little fartknocker thought he could smart off to the umpire because the game was over. He was...mistaken. Perhaps this umpire did the rest of us a favor and this kid will clean up his act. "How do you like that?" implies that the umpire wanted the other team to win and was making calls that favor them. I have no probelm with this ejection at this level. Kids play, coaches coach, and umpires umpire.

The hook seemed pretty quick on the coaches, but I could not hear what they were saying, though PonyUmp said they accused him of of bias. Bye bye!

If he had previously told the catcher thats enough and had given him his warning, then I dont have a problem with that. I hate the mentality of "the games over, now Im untouchable". As for the coaches because the games over, Id explain to them what happened once (IMO they are entitled to that) and then leave. Only if the coaches follow him and keep arguing or accuse him of bias should there be any ejections.

Trout, that's an all fake turf field. Even the mound. Everything is fake there.

The EJ really depends on what led up to it. The comment can be taken any of a dozen ways. We just saw the ending.

BU is a bit late to the party.

PU needed to run the catcher, notify the scorekeeper, and shove off. No need to stick around. UNLESS, those were jackball coaches, and needed to be run. Then I could see about getting them to eject themselves. (that's easy to do).

Kyle I disagree. I think the coaches are completely entitled to an explanation. If your player just got thrown out immediately after an ejection wouldn't you want to know?

But I did not like that the umpire stayed around and walked towards their dugout. He should have got the kids number and left then notified the TD.

He also hung around when BU was trying to control things.

Maybe real, but the dirt and chalk look pristine for late innings.

Anyhoo... As for the EJs, HP obviously had reached his limit. He shouldn't have walked to their dugout, but they won. Which DU should they exit by? We're told always leave via winning side, but.... BU waited awhile to step in, HP hung around. Maybe the EJs were warranted. Not really ebough intel.

The kid must have said something inappropriate.

But I did not like that the umpire stayed around and walked towards their dugout. He should have got the kids number and left then notified the TD.

Also, there are seats right up on the fnce and if you zoom your camera in right, you can make the fence disappear.

If you toss a player after game is over, it may not be a good idea to immediately head for the gate. It may be a worse scene outside in the parking lot than on the field. You can hear that idiot mom saying he's just a kid. I would probably wait just a second before leaving. You know the coaches are going to want an explaination and I'd rather handle that on the field. I don't see anything wrong with what he done. IMHO.

Also I would hope he doesn't leave while his partner is trying to get everyone under control after he just tossed three people. Enter together, leave together correct?

It's possible that he had to stick around to get the scorecard signed and to sign the pitch logs. We have to do these things at USSSA tournaments here.

If an appeal is possible until the crew leaves the field, so is an EJ. IMO.

Yes that was also a time play where the runner didn't beat the tag on Martin.
