I have no problem in saying he offered at the pitch. But at about 18 seconds the crisp sound sounded like wood.

I read the news article about this first and Valentine was upset that O'Nora told him he called it based on sound. I wish people would realize how often we as umpires have to make our calls on something other than what we see. And a lot of things at the plate we make based on sound even if we didn't see it: CI, HPB, Foul tips. the list goes on. so based on sound I would have had a foul too.

My next question is what type of shins does O'Nora wear. to go down on that? What ever they are we should all know as so we can burn them. Even with my old cheap +POS I first started with I don't think that would have hurt enough to go down on.

It seems he had his leg turned a bit and might've caught the ball at the end of his leg guard.

Even if his leg wasnt turned it might of caught himbetween the guard and themet flap on the shoe -- rioght at that tendon (I guess) on the front of the ankle.

It looks like it hist the outer half but still on the forward side. Definitely above she shoe shin gap, in an place I expect to be protected.

The way the ump went down I thought the bat hit him initially! Looks like a tough call from over 100 feet away. I truly thought the guy got hit and was holding back, but I am in the minority amongst some smarter guys here.

In real time, I actually had foul. Looked like he offered, then I heard something that sounded like the crack of a bat. To me, it initially looked like he bunted it off his leg.
