2012 CWS Video Learning Clips

Not that I know, but wouldn't you kind of go opposite the way the catcher goes so you don't end up getting plunked with a throw? If the ball had of gone to the catchers left, this position would seem right but if the ball goes to the right it looks like the point and one step right would work or at least a step or two left of where he ended up would work.

Yeah, the last thing we'd want is to get hit with a throw...not only b/c it would tick the players off, but it is also likely to leave a mark!

It looks like the umpire begins by chasing the ball as if he thought it might go out of play or something. Straight back and opn up would be better here. And I would have an out call on the play without the replay as well.

I agree in "real time" he's out. Not saying he kicked it, just seemed like if he set up slightly to his left he might have had a better angle to see the hand/plate/tag.

I hope you all enjoyed the clips from the Super Regionals and the CWS. They took a lot of time to put together, probably 30 minutes per clip, so if they're not useful, I won't do it again next year, but I wanted to do something to contribute on this board. It's not as easy as simply grabbing a link from the internet and throwing them on here.

Also regarding the above video... spot on on the punch out but interesting the decision to slide 3BX as stated above. That being said, he is working at TD Ameritrade... and I am not.

BT, they should all be in the NCAA thread. I tried to give them a consistent naming as well...they should all have the word "video" in them.

Primitive, but it does the job. I don't know how else he could've been positioned for this. Remember, we have the privilege of replay and several angles.

i think the Pu should have stayed at the point of the Plate, on this play.. the Catcher was going to the right to get the ball and if the PU moves more, he could get int he way.. and the Pitcher is coming straight down towards the plate to get the throw, you will be in a awesome angle to look at the play.

real speed he looks out but in slow motion he is safe...i agree his positioning didnt do him any favors...should have been on the other side in my opinion..
