I have Plantar Fasciitis in my feet, which makes it difficult to call games. I was wondering if anyone could recommend base or plate shoes and/or insoles to help with this condition. It's getting to the point I may have to curtail my baseball, softball and basketball officiating until I find some relief.

Thank you in advance for any help it is greatly appreciated.

I also had a pretty bad case of Plantar in 2008, Do the exercises you will find on the net, especially the wall push, & the staircase one.

Get Custom Orthotics, If you have health insurance many will cover them. if not ,can cost any where from $250-$400.

Freeze a bottle of water and roll it back and forth on the bottom of your foot .

Stop wearing flip flops or sandals(not supportive enough)

Thats what worked for me ,, took about 6 months for the pain to subside

The orthotics are a must. Many generics also work if you haven't the budget for custom. You want a hard plastic one that really supports your arch. Another thing to try is to tape or brace your arches while you sleep. I kid you not. When you wake up, there is less pain, if any.

And all the other advice is spot on. Never walk around unsupported no matter where you're going. And, if you're carrying around any extra weight, if you drop it, the degree of pain will also drop.

All these things worked for me, and I'm going on five years of almost no pain. That's without drugs or surgery. The orthotics help things to stay fixed. They help with back and knee pain also.

I had a bout of this a few years ago. Very painful indeed. A runner freind convinced me to roll a frozen golf ball under my foot 4 times a day. Increasing the pressure as tolerable. Start sitting and work up to standing. I thought he was crazy but, I was at the end of the rope. Within a short period of time (2 weeks or so) I was completely cured. I still do some of the stretches that are available on line. Best of luck.

Hi

I have plantar fasciitis myself for a few months now. My podiatrist prescribed me with Custom made orthotics which did not work at all. I understood that treatment efficiency is very individual. If something works for one it may not work for the other.

I have found Taping very useful.

There are many kinds of inserts that you can try. In my opinion inserts and orthotics are individual like the rest of the plantar fasciitis treatments. The good inserts for me will not be good for you because I have flat foot and you have high arches.

There is a good web-page explaining the subject and more in this informative website-

Take care & Good luck

I have bad ankles (not related to plantar fasciitis) and have been going to the podiatrist for a while. He has given me a proper ankle brace and custom orthotics. They have been great. I highly recommend seeing a professional and getting the care you need.

i had this condition last year , with my left foot . at first i ignored the problem , until i could barely stand or walk :bang: . went to the orthopedic dr . ultimately went for the custom orthotics. very $$$$$ , but i was in so much pain , i didnt care . i also did the several stretches , and a wore night boot . all this info has been suggested already . you must be consistent for many weeks/months with the stretches . i still and will wear the custom insole's . i started fall/winter ball a couple weeks ago . in the very first gm my rt. ft. :WTF started to ache , and then came the same heel pain , i couldnt believe it , just in the last few days it did finally start to heal (no pun) . i have taken the last 2 weeks off from any gms . but planning to work this weekend . as other have said , never walk barefoot , anywhere . there are some good over the counter insoles . but first u have to correct the foot problem . last year with my left foot and the custom insoles , it took many months as the custom insoles re-trained , re-aligned my feet, ankles ,calf , ect......it was painfull at first . it usually takes a long time to to get to the point you are at , and can take just as long to correct . i "feel youre pain " literally !!!!!!!!

Sorry to reboot an old thread - but I wanted to keep all the info on this subject in one area.  Especially since "Fasciitis" is not searchable??

After two years of listening to the podiatrist, I decided to take matters in to my own hands and I recently found a solution for my chronic and extremely painful Plantar Fasciitis by visiting a foot/ specialty shoe store.

Computer diagnostics, tried lots of different solutions, and finally tried "Rollbar" / "Negative Heel" shoes by Chung Shi and that was the answer.  Boom.  Pain gone. Poof.  Incredible.

I had to try lots of different shoes because they all did different things.   For example, I tried a "Shape-ups" design by MBT and while they felt great, solved the pain problem, they were not stable for pivoting.

The clerk spent 90 minutes with me figuring out the right solution.  She also formulated an orthotic insert for my plate shoe.

I am a happy camper, finally.    I know solutions for this problem are highly individualzed, but check out the local Foot Solutions / Lucky Feet, etc, if you haven't found your solution yet.

ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou!!!!! For recirculating this thread. My right foot is almost to the point of cutting it off in the guillotine. Man, it hurts to stand after sitting for awhile or sleeping. I had no idea why. Thought maybe I'd pulled/strained something. Saw this thread and read it from the OP and followed the links. You da MAN!

Ive started using KTtape for my ankle and PF issues. During football season it was a load of help. Time to see how it does during baseball season.
