So I won the Ump Cares Charity Auction for the Honigs Plate Coat.

But I am not sure that I deserve to wear a Plate Coat. How do I make such a decision?!

I am in Florida so I am not sure that I will have many occasions to wear it. But if the ocassion came along it would be nice.

I have not ordered it yet and I may entertain selling it.

If anyone is interested let me know in case I do decide to sell it.

Yes plate coats are sized for a chest protector. I would say that its better to have a plate coat that is slightly to big than slightly to small. sometimes I like to layer up on colder days when weari

I think I wore it 4 times this year, even as late in the season as April on a Friday night. Unusually cold for TX that time of year. Even with wearing it those few times, I'm glad I bought it.

Keep the coat. Nobody wears them often outside of MLB. So for the big games that you do work. Toy with the idea. Who cares what anybody else thinks...have fun and rock that plate coat!!!

Me too! My black one. I have a navy one I am considering selling. No numbers. Fecheimer brand. Polyester, size 44. Sleeves are probably 32. I only wore it twice. Had an EJ each time I wore it.

This may be a stupid question but if I decide to keep it how do I measure for size?

I do not have any coats of any kind, No sports coat, formal coats, nothing.

Go to a place where you can rent tuxedos or a place that sells suits and get measured.

Order the same size that you would for a normal suit coat.

Go to your local Sears, and try on some sport coats. That will give a rough size to start with. I wear a 42 Regular in a suit coat, and all my plate coats have been the same size. I've had to have them tailored a bit (take in at the waist, and lengthen a bit in the sleeves), but they were pretty close.

So i went to get sized for a Coat at JC Penny's.

They made me try a 46 and it was just a tad tight. Then I tried a 48 and it was a tad loose. The guy said the the 46 looked better on me.

For you guys that wear a Plate Coat. What would you get for a plate coat. Would a 46 be Ok since it is cut for a CP?

Or should I go with the 48?

I can tell the diffrence in the fit of my coat when i do that. So I suggest to go with the bigger size if the 46 is a tad tight.

Go with the 48. You will most likely have to shorten the sleeves and depending on your belly, you might have the coat tapered in on the sides. I wear a 42 or 43 suit and I wear a 44 plate coat.

You guys are making me nervous. I maybe should have sized up. I'm a 42 jacket, but maybe I should have sized up to a 44 Reg.

Dang. Honigs says to order your normal jacket size. I hope I don't regret this. Think I still have time to change my order, it's only been a couple of weeks and I'm a common size.

So I took my plate coat in to the tailor today put on my CP and coat on and he asked me:

Are you a Referee?

My response:

Yes sir, I am.

But got a good price on it. Just have to make sure I only wear it to my T-Ball Games! :smachhead:
