Has anybody heard anything about these helmets yet? Watching the Yankee game today I saw C.B. Bucknor wearing one.

fitzy, glad you noticed!

About a year ago, Ed Hickox contacted us about our helmets after having some serious problems with another mask. We've been working with him since last year and as of now he's using our MVP4000. Hickox preached good words about his new mask to C.B. (long time user of our MVP2000), and now he's loving the System Seven™ MVP4000 too.

Sitting right next to me are two more masks which will be shipped out today... one for Bill Welke (another long time user of our MVP2000) and his crew member Mike Dimuro (who has been unsatisfied with another brand of mask).

The mask they are using is the MVP4000. Typically, this mask comes in a two tone pattern, but we also carry solid black specifically for umpires.

Hope this helps!

If you have any more questions feel free to ask me!

Before one ever orders anything from Epic Sports, it is of vital import that they read and understand Epic's astounding return policy, the highlight of which is this:

Please call 1-877-539-9591 BEFORE shipping anything back, to obtain a return authorization.

Items (which are not defective or mis-shipped) can only be returned for refund within 5 days from receipt of order and will be charged a 20-50% restocking fee, less shipping charges. Items that are not returned in their original "factory" packaging will be charged an additional re-packaging fee.

The whole policy is here: http://baseball.epicsports.com/returnpolicy.html

Hey guys,

Here are a few ways...

Our website has a dealer locator which should suggest a store close to you. Check it out here: http://all-starsports.com/page.php?pg=purchase

There are a few online dealers carrying it... but not many. The MVP4000 is our most top of the line mask... rated for anyone who consistantly sees ball speeds of over 90 MPH. For most stores, they would only sell a handfull of them so they tend to not stock them.

For most umpires out there, the MVP2500 is the choice helmet and is stocked by many more online and local sports shops. Umpiring little league through some college ball... the MVP2500 will work for you.

If you don't have any local store close to you there are stores out there which will happily take your order over the phone or via e-mail and have it drop shipped to you. To name a couple, Sports N More (http://sportsnmore.com/) and Sports Depot (http://www.sportsdepot.com/). We've had lots of umpires with special requests, like wanting an extra set of pads, go through them.

If you guys have any questions about these two helmets, please let me know. I can go into really good detail!

What is the weight on the MVP4000 steel and what is the weight on the MVP4000TI. Just curious. I currently wear a Wilson HSM, but I might be in the market for another one next year.

The MVP4000SL (Superlight Hollow Steel I-BAR cage) weights 44.1 oz and the MVP4000TI weights 41.9 oz.

The best part about this mask is how well it's balanced on your head. Compared to our past MVP design, like the MVP2200, the System Seven™ masks are 3/4" longer in the back, making a more stable platform for it to rest. When you put it on, it's weight almost disappears.

For more details on this mask, check out our youtube page (http://www.youtube.com/allstarsportsvids#p/u) where you can see my brother (Stan Jr) talking about the mask in crazy detail. Everything from the shell design, to the unique cage, and through the removable and machine washable padding.

Thanks, this helps a lot. I really appreciate the info. One thing I have to say about the helmet is that it's probably the nicest looking one I've seen.

Ordered an MVP4000SL thru Rex at Between the Lines Officials Gear.

I am looking forward to receiving it....I tried the Shock FX for a few days at home, the view was great... but... just did not feel comfortable enough with the fit.... or the looks.

Brad, this is off the subject, but do you guys plan on making a single-bar titanium traditional style mask any time soon? I really like your titanium you sell now, but I can't get over the double bar design.

zm,

No plans on a single bar TI cage yet, but that doesn't mean it's not on our list of things to do...

We've been working on traditional face masks though... and for the 2011 season we have something completely new to introduce to the "traditional facemask" which increases comfort and protection. This new facemask design is even our lightest mask to date! Stay tuned... we're getting in a hand full of these things soon to get some of them out this season. I'll post up more details on this forum soon with all the details.
