My first college game is March 4th, but I'm fairly certain some teams in our area get underway around the end of February.

Cage work in February, scrimmages first couple of weekends in March before their southern trips. Usually with weather cooperating about the 20th or so.

Tournament coming up January 13-15. I'm hoping to get 6-7 games.

I need the work - already getting rusty since the four games I had last week.

EDIT: Sorry, just realized this is the collegiate forum and it won't let me delete... Don't do college yet - maybe in the future.

I need to move down to wherever you guys are! Though i don't work college ball yet ( some college summer ball no conference games ) we don't start high school until end of March, if were lucky! The last game i worked was my couple innings at Mid-American, so needless to say i starting to get the shakes from the withdrawals! :banghead:

First college game is Mar 8 at this moment. Hoping to get some more games from the local college.

Scratch that...I just got a call for a double header on Feb 11 and a tournament the next weekend.

Found this info for the NCAA. Has all the clinic dates, one that has passed and one in progress.

Noticed they received a 200 raise for each of the 3 special events at the end of the year. Super looks like the biggest bang for the buck and a possible quick in and out situation. If it only goes 2 games that is a quick 550 per game and go home all expenses paid. However, if you are working a Super, you are not working a CWS. They work it like MLB with the DS, NLCS, and WS.

This also has the evaluation forms that they use at the NCAA level and also the points of emphasis at the end.

Question.

Can one attend these clinics without being a member of a NCAA Conference. IOW, can someone off the street pay the clinic fee and attend, just so they can learn? Or, can they just register with the NCAA without being an NCAA umpire and attend. Just curious.

I'm pretty sure if you wanted to pay and make the trip to the meeting you would be free to attend. Remember, you're an independent contractor, you register with NCAA via Arbiter, you can pay to attend their meetings. There's no guarantee of games, but you can go to the meetings.

There is no fee to attend the meetings.....they are free. You don't have to be registered with the NCAA either.

Thanks.

Looks like the D-1 conferences start the regular season schedule 2/17 and end 5/19. The conference tournaments come after that and then the playoffs.
