A player from the bench yells , a very vulgar or offensive comment at you , but you don't know who? ( was not looking at the bench it was after a called strike on there batter)

This points out the difference between , Amateur and Pro ejections, if a guy does this in amateur game I am calling , we might very well have ballgame over see rule 4.15, but in pro or maybe NCAA you just wait or call security to take them off the field .

Ok here is the rule and interpertation from the 2013 LL RIM book 4.03b The pitcher, while in the act of delivering the ball to the batter, shall take the legal position. © Except the pitcher and the catcher, any fielder may be stationed anywhere in fair territory. INSTRUCTOR COMMENTS: When holding a runner on first base, especially in Intermediate (50/70) Division, Juniors, Seniors and Big League Baseball, the first baseman will sometimes have his/her left foot entirely in foul territory. Do not allow this to occur. Both feet must be in fair territory. Penalty for having at least one foot on the ground entirely in foul territory is not a balk. Simply warn the player to move into fair territory and that further occurrence can result in his/her ejection from the game.

You know some posters went off on Big Umpire rant about protecting yourself, well now this hits home that he mght just be right? This easily could have been any other sport. I live in AZ a very pro gun state. I thinking about possible needing to protect myself

In a Fed rule HS game today, I almost had a classic Rule 7.09(j) Comment: play. But the ball trickled foul , and while very close there was no contact so if it stayed fair no one probably would have squaked. But it got me thinking went home went through the FED Book & Case Book and cannot find any similar comment in either fed book?? So is it the same interpertation?

I know gonna sound like an old timer , but theses avoid contact and slide rules are just BS , just play baseball!! Since all these so called "safety rules" started I have scene more runners hurt sliding , than "Posey" like injuries to catchers . Like stated early in the thread, sliding probably causes the second most injuries in baseball,

If there is a missed base appeal when I am solo, I don't have any problem telling a coach that my priority on that play was elsewhere (such as a fair/foul decision, a catch/no catch, etc). It ends the discussion whereas trying to appear that you were watching it gives him ammo to say that they know you didn't see it. The coaches around here tend to know that you can't see everything when you are solo, and cut you some slack on stuff like missed bases. Leaving early, especially for the lead runner, is something I would expect them to appeal because we should always see that. I would never tell someone to pay for two umpires. I know these guys are dealing with horrendous budget issues here in CA, so they do their best with what they have. I only bring it up if they get pissy on a long distance call, ex steal or pick off at 2nd base
