I'm 29. Am I old?:question1:
-
Why?? Do they fit large? Small? Or did you just order the wrong size?
-
I see Lesters Sports Upstate has the new All Star titanium helmet for sale. Anyone else selling it at any better price??

Balls on left and strikes on right. Try to always siginal and vocalize the count on pitches of decision (ie. 0-2, 1-2, 2-2, 3-2, 3-1). At least that's what they stress here.

Good job Jax, let the run score. Same with catchers obstruction on a play at the plate and R3 runs F2. Ding the catcher with obstruction and score the run, then eject the runner.
-
Yeah, me too. I play badminton twice a week. On Monday, I balked my opponent on a serve.
-
If this a Cal Ripken League using 60 ft bases with no lead offs until the ball crosses the batter --- no balks. 70 ft bases --- balk. As far as the sitch. goes, if he loses his balance but still completes his motion to the plate I don't have a balk. If he loses his balance and puts his non-pivot foot down, I have a balk

Good, that's what I thought. The previous post didn't make sense.

So, because the ball was kicked out of play it's a 2 base award from time of dead ball?? But if it went straight out of play it's from tot?
-
without digging into a manual, I would say tot

Received a reply email this morning which read, "We are looking to add this item to be available in March 2011."

When the catcher blocks you out - what are your options?
jnazz replied to NaiCam's topic in Umpire Mechanics
I was once told that 80% of foul balls go directly over the catcher's head. If this is indeed a true statistic, moving out is crazy. -

NEVER!!! Either try to get higher or further back ---- of course every situation is different. -
The Official Rules of Baseball Illustrated by David Nemec - this book explains all the rules, the reasons the rules were created, and when and why certain rules were changed.

What's wrong with you? Only ten minutes?

Let one volunteer or coach feed the machine and have the umpire set up behind the plate calling everything OR have the umpire feed and call everything, period. The volunteer on third just presents problems. It would be very difficult and intimidating for a 12 yr. old umpire to over rule an adult. And, knowing the way some parents are, I can see a Dad making a scene after getting over ruled by a 12 yr. old umpire. Just my 2 cents.

See: The Rules of Professional Baseball by Jaksa and Roder - Chapter 2H. Miscellaneous Definitions "Pivot Foot: A right-handed pitcher's right foot and a left-handed pitcher's left foot." See: More than 100 Problems with the Official Baseball Rules by Rick Roder - It's mentioned in problem 12 Page 24 "Taking all warm-up pitches with a single arm is to be considered a declaration of the pitcher's intent to pitch with that arm until further notice. When a pitcher has decided to switch arms, he must inform the plate umpire, and must do so before the batter steps into the batter's box."

Is There a Demand For New Protective Technology Behind The Dish?
jnazz replied to NaiCam's topic in Umpire Equipment
Of course, there are some umpires who will buy affordable gear and sacrifice protection just to save a buck. I think you will find that most umpires on this forum DO NOT fall into that category. I personally will pay whatever it takes to wear the best pro gear. I cannot afford to miss work, so paying an extra $100-$150 for a CP is a no brainer. At the time being, I don't feel I need to upgrade my protective gear --- I feel I have the market's top gear. But, if something extrordinary comes along I may be tempted. -
Thanks Kevin, that's what I thought. Has there been any talk about making them for next season?? I find the shoe with the white trim too busy.
-
I currently wear a NB450 plate shoe and am considering purchasing new shoes for next season. I like the feel of the NB shoes, so.... would they be closer to a mid or low cut?? And, if they're a mid cut, do they make a solid black mid cut??

Just Canadian teams in American Legion Leagues. We have Cranbrook and Trail (British Columbia) in the North Idaho AAA league and Trail in the Spokane North AA and A league.
-
The legion leagues I work for allow the Canadian teams to wear Canadian flags on their uniforms (not any US flag) and our UIC has told me that in the past we have been allowed to wear both. But we had to have both (not just the Canadian flag).
