  1. during the sermon the bishop says "How many of you were baptized Episcopalian?" A bunch of people raised their hands and he screamed "HA! I GET PEOPLE WITH THE EVERY TIME! You're not baptized anything but Christian! You were simply baptized INSIDE an Episcopal church!" so I guess so.
  2. I know we try to keep the site secular BUT I just got confirmed into the Episcopal Church this morning by the Right Reverend Mark Lattime...lots of fun, lots of noise...got a fancy silver cross with the seal of the Diocese of Alaska.
  3. My First ASVAB™ bright and early tomorrow at 9:00. I can already smell the sweet smell of two skipped periods for the sake of pretending I am an actual functioning human being with skills.

That is awesome.  I was a recruiter for the Navy and that is a great score.

  4. I'm not being sent to Turkey. I'm not being sent anywhere. They didn't even tell me WHY I wasn't accepted, despite leading me to believe I would be. My parent's compromise is next summer to go on a so-called nation tour between their friend's properties-Bay Area, Houston, Chicago, East Tennessee, Philly, Port Norris/Millville, (ooooh sounds like baseball games!) And then spend the rest of the summer in Holland with my mom's high school friend. But knowing my parents that won't pan out in the slightest. Whatever happens, I'm going to at least be able to go to Costa Rica in June. (Hooray, I'm a missionary!)
  5. like I said, I don't even know for sure I've been accepted until the end of the month. My chances look good but I've learned not to get hopeful about this sort of thing... If there's more "religiously open minded" kids who apply, I'm going to try and push for Germany, Spain, or South Africa. My parents want me to go to Thailand or Indonesia but...I don't do creepy crawlies or slimy slitheries.
  6. yeah I take solace in knowing Turkey is trying so hard to make the EU love them. I would spend four months in a city, three and a half in a "semi-rural" town, and three and a half in the country. IF (there's the variable) I get selected, I find out by the end of the month and my Turkish doom is almost positively sealed until January, where I go to a conference in Anchorage and get assigned a country. From there I am required to learn the language and customs on my own and departure date for all students is the second week of August, 2016. I would return to the states the first week of July, 2017 unless I was caught doing one of the five D's (drinking, driving, drugging, dating, dumb stuff) or a like, full scale war broke out. But nothing is set in stone yet.
  7. I applied for Rotary Exchange about a month ago and got called for an interview by the Rotarians...I stuttered a lot and gave a lot of terrible answers but apparently they really liked me and brought my parents in to talk to them. And the conversation went; "Has Mallory always been pretty open minded about religion, about having peers of other religions?" "Yes." "We don't mean just other Christian denominations than hers, we mean...Muslims." *dun dun dun* "Uh...yeah? Why wouldn't she be?" (I had previously already told the panel that I don't believe religion is a reason to separate yourself from your peers and keep you from learning.) "We're just so happy to have such a religiously open student. She will most likely get very high preference and placed in a majority Muslim country." Well okay I mean Morocco or Egypt would be cool as hell but then I look at the open country list for 2016. Turkey. Friggen Turkey is the open majority Muslim country the year I would be going. I find out in less than two weeks if I am going to a literal BOMBING ZONE for my junior year. I wanted mid-Europe or South Africa...don't bother sending me to Spain or Germany, either, where I would at least be able to say "I have missed my flight. Help," without looking like a typical monolingual American tourist and/or screaming towards a crowd of people "DOES ANYBODY SPEAK ENGLISH?
  8. Bob Brenly and Steve Berthiaume were mocking a bunch of college students on air for taking pictures of themselves at the ballpark...amazing...smartphones have been around for how long and apparently a grown man has never taken a selfie at the ball game? How dare young women ha vE fU N??¿ d-bags reppin for the d-backs.
  9. randazzo wears one too
  10. Thank you.
  11. it's pretty much established that I know nothing about basketball. That was the point of even posting.
  12. actually I didn't because I don't make a point of concerning myself in my father's problems. But thanks for that extra sarcasm. Now, if we could talk about BASKETBALL that'd be awesome
  13. neither was him posting that it was completely unrelated and I'm not stupid.
  14. I literally said I had hyperopic astigmatism. That's not exactly skimpy information, seeing as it is EXACTLY what is wrong with my eyes. If a doctor told you you had a disease or something, I'm assuming that you would told about it if you didn't already know. Which is why I got upset at Richvee. Because I know what the hell is going on, strange as it seems. I didn't want to know about eyes, I wanted to know about basketball.
  15. Has just died, according to my AP Mobile Alerts.
  16. pretty sure that's Fieldin Culbreth...might have not had his contacts in before the game...
  17. idfk not seeing JaxRolo's terrible "jokes" and casual ageism and misogyny everywhere has made me a generally happier person.
  18. um. My dad is nearsighted and farsighted and colorblind b/y. My brother has astigmatism in both eyes. So does my mother. I have taken a basic biology course. That wasn't necessary??? Actually it kind of came off like I wasn't supposed to know that and you just wanted to show off????????? I mean. I don't think doctors normally just tell you what's wrong and then just ignore when you ask what it is??????????? If you "feel compelled" go tell the players at my school who are all harassing me about whether or not he slid under the tag.
  19. After recently being diagnosed with hyperopic astigmatism in my right eye and farsightedness in my left, it was suggested that I take up officiating a winter sport to see if I was still comfortable officiating with glasses/contacts. (All the Legion players love me now.) SO as of October 3rd, I will be a high school basketball referee. Anything I should know going in with zero knowledge of the sport?
  20. As usual, the MLB2NITE announcers were complete dicks about it... "you're the home plate umpire-what are you thinking after calling that a strike? You're thinking 'I messed up' and you're terrified!" Three people who have obviously never even talked to an umpire...I personally would have been thinking "go away, brat. You're already ejected." My .02...
  21. This was originally supposed to be a snapchat to my friend complaining about my coworker but then the Aurora were like "WASSUP" over the channel.
  22. I was working late last night on the docks as the sun was setting...if you look closely, you can see my semi-coworker complaining about how cold it was (61F) at the bottom of the photo.
  23. This was officially published as public domain, therefor I can use it for DDF events. Thanks!
  24. there were a lot of things that could have been fixed with no money though.
  25. It's interesting, however... The person making this is extremely inexperienced with cameras, didn't actually care, or was just really bad. They've apparently never heard of pods, the audio was not equalized right, the interviews were from low angles or from straight on angles while the interviewee was not flush with the lens, there was no extra light, the camera person was WAY too close to Todd, didn't like focusing on something long enough for anybody to see it, and let Todd wear a hat in the interview. But I mean, it wasn't a bad concept. Except that we've all heard that stuff before. (The only person who would get anything from it would be a fan or player that didn't understand umpiring and was curious.)
