  1. Would a throat guard have even helped in that situation?
  2. A strike is a strike!
  3. Not athletic enough to get from PoP to 3B? Nice incorrect assumption. Plenty athletic sir. I'm going to be most helpful to my partner on the first base line and also do what my mechanic manual tell me to do instead of making up my own mechanics. I trust the authors of the CCA manual to know a lot more than me when it comes to positioning. Here another instance where my manual tell me to stay home as PU...it has NOTHING to do with being athletic or not. R2 Action on the field: Ground ball to F6 with a throw to first base; R2 advances toward third base on the throw and draws a throw to third base. PU: Observes the action at 1B to assist on pulled foot or swipe tag by the first baseman and then returns to the plate for any play there. U1: Moves into the best position to rule on all plays at 1b, 2b, or 3b Nobody is rotating to 3B as PU with a R2. The original question was with R1.
  4. My not athletic enough comment was sarcastic. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers.
  5. So how is that different than a double play ball hit to F6?
  6. Not athletic enough to get from PoP to 3B?
  7. As PU be on your way to 3B for possible play there.
  8. So you have been taught to rotate on a simple IF grounder (or maybe a bunt)?. My question is asked bc I have only seen where rotations are taught on base hits to the OF or 'double tags' On an infield grounder, yes. PBUC teaches that. Once the out is recorded at 2B you can head back towards HP.
  9. This with R1. Possible play at 3B PU has the call. That's what we were taught. BU obviously has any calls at 2B and 1B in this scenario.
  10. BU needs to make his own call. My reason being: R1, grounder hit in the infield, PU starts to rotate to 3B. Therefore not always in great position to see pulled foot/swipe tage.
  11. Anyone looking to get rid of a shirt? Need a new Navy (size L) shirt and figured I'd ask here first. I've got the $$$ if you got the goods
  12. Any feedback on Smitty's PW's from anyone? Debating between them and Honigs
  13. NW Ohio - we get our checks a little before game time either from HC or athletic director
  14. You're right. Check swing strike is not appealable.
  15. If I'm calling a balk as PU, I am calling it so the pitcher doesn't pitch and if he happens to deliver a pitch the batter definitely is not swinging. I'll get someone's attention. I'm definitely not staying locked in while in my plate stance. Do they teach that when calling a balk?
  16. It's Jackie Robinson day
  17. How difficult or not difficult is it to re-attach the Team Wendy pads yourself on the gold?
  18. "That's Obstruction!"
  19. I just don't understand how this is not an OUT
  20. Interference. Don't over complicate it. F2 was interfered by B1.
  21. Do the Honigs Poly Wools need dry cleaned? In their item description it says they do but I've heard others say mention that they do not dry clean them... I know Smitty's PW's are 80/20 and do NOT need dry cleaned.
  22. I have had them since January. Absolutely no issues.
  23. The STRIKE ZONE is that area over home plate the upper limit of which is a horizontal line at the midpoint between the top of the shoulders and the top of the uniform pants, and the lower level is a line at the hollow beneath the kneecap. The Strike Zone shall be determined from the batter's stance as the batter is prepared to swing at a pitched ball.
  24. Called the "high" strike in a game Friday. One team (VT) adjusted fairly quickly to what was my zone, and the other team (HT) did not. The VT that adjusted early did not say a word the whole game about my zone. The HT was insistent on whining and complaining the whole game about my high strike calls. But it was the cowardly snickering and comments from the dugout where they know you can hear them but I'd look like the aggressor if I acknowledged them back. Oh well, did not bother me one bit. The VT who adjusted scored 14 runs. The HT who did not adjust scored 1 run.
