Not really sure how to spell what I "say." It's loud and true. I leave no room for confusion when calling balls and strikes. I agree with @MadMax, I think it's funny when players/fans imitate my strike call. What do I care if, in their minds, they are being disrespectful? "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

It's amazing what a person can do when they are driven. I'll give you an example, my brother works for a natural gas company in Texas. He spends the majority of his 10 hour day outside, wearing jeans, a long-sleeved denim shirt, and a welding mask while working on gas lines. He does this year in and year out; in August (105*) and in January (20*). Sounds crazy doesn't it? Working, in the Texas heat, ensuring that his last weld of the day is as good as his first. Like I said, it's amazing what a person can do when they put their mind to it.

Thinking about using a balloon during training sessions and scrimmages. Can't stand the thought of getting hit in the abdomen or groin.

Agreed. I was fortunate enough to run into my LL coach during my first year of umpiring. He explained that going to umpire training gave him a definite advantage over the other coaches in the league.

I have a balk--not for what the umpire said--I have a balk because "move the throwing hand with ball to his back while stepping on the rubber" you can not move the ball and your pivot foot at the same time. Guys don't hurt your back throwing a ump under the bus. F1 wasn't on the rubber.
