BR continues to run and reaches 2nd safely. Both runners are now standing at 2nd . The defensive player tags both runners. What should the umpire's call be?

Long sleeve shirts are not allowed in my area. Ump24 - are they allowed in your area. I believe the Baseball Canada standard is short sleeves only.

I am the assigner for my area. The fees are paid by the teams to me at the start of the season at a rate of 1 games umpires fee per team. This covers all their home games plus any playoffs. Any tournaments are charged a fee depending on the number of games.This totals to a very acceptable amount. I usually make more assigning than I do umpiring.

Warm comes earlier in Ontario.

Jax and Semper - you live in areas where there is baseball year round or almost year round Where I live, baseball exists for about 4 months or so. My umpiring time is therefore limited to that time frame. Also I turned 64 in October !!

I would love to work that number of games but the season here does not allow it. Season is about 16 to 17 weeks. Best I have done is 110 games. Usually now average about 50. Getting too old for many more than this plus am tied up a lot with assigning and mentoring.

In my area (Nova Scotia) the Umpire Association requires the Association crest on all hats, shirts and jackets.

Just off the top of my head, I came up with two: Pitcher drops ball while on rubber - balk Hit strikes rubber and goes over foul line - foul ball As an umpire I have had the second but have yet to see the first in 21 years.

I will also repeat. Check with your local league/association. In my area there is a dress code - shirts must be navy or powder blue (alternate colour). Black is only used for Baseball Canada National Championships.

Correct. It is a Baseball Canada rule. Religious and medical are exempt but must be taped.
