B) IFF is in effect , batter pops up near F3 ,R1(unintentionally ) tangles and F3 bump as F3 drifts towards the foul line . the officials announce IFF if fair , F3makes the catch in Foul T . The OP doesn't say INT was called, if it wasn't, it would just be BR out on pop fly and ball is live. The correct call I believe would be INT, R1 is out, BR returns to bat, but it's one you'd have to see it actually happen.

Hey Ken, when you get your shoes would you mind letting me know how they fit.. I've read somewhere that NB shoes are a bigger than your normal shoe size (such as if you wear a 10 get a 9). Appreicate it man!

i got an e-mail from our assigner saying that we need to learn to work with the partners that are assigned because there have been multiple guys arguing with each other on the field and some umpires straight walking off the field before the game is even close to over. ive never had it happen with me and i know this question was to Jax. Just wanted to input.

I would of just stayed in right field.. if he wants to ask me something he can walk out and ask me... they can chit chat all they want at home plate.. ill stay in my position. Side note, I call with a guy thats near his 70s, he had a partner that threw him under the bus out loud for all to hear. He walked over to him, told him to go find and explain to the assigner what he just did. The guy left the field and didnt come back. He also no longer calls for us.

1) Continue tracking the ball from the hand to the glove before I decide if it's ball or strike. 2) Pause, Read, React. Something new I learned this offseason on and I an trying to work out of my 'player habits' watching the ball all the way. 3) Having confidence as I begin working HS games that actually mean something (rather than fall and summer ball) 4) Not moving so much like I use to to see plays at all bases up close. Learning the 'working area'. Much much more as well.

While we are discussing jackets, instead of opening another thread, how do you like the smitty mlb style umpire jacket? How does it do in cold weather (40F to 50F [4C to 10C if you use metric])? Does anyone have the Majestic? Same question. I've been looking to get a jacket for the colder weather. I have Plus Pos black pullover, but it does little to nothing in cold weather. It depends are where you are at, who you are calling for, and what level... Youth Baseball, I have no problem removing a fan that is using any sort of language that is I feel is unacceptable for youth. I've done it 3 times and I have not had any problems, they get their stuff and leave. Our assigner, Our baseball president, our board are stand by that we have the right to remove fans that we feel are causing any issues. HS Baseball, I would just inform the coach to inform the administrators. I've never seen this have to come into play, typically Asst. Principals and a police officer are present at all HS games in our area. .

So, who else thinks there is a possibility that this is Cederstrom and West final year? I feel like quite a few of them may be hanging them up in the next couple of years?

In my area, typically, in youth baseball (5-14), we tell the coaches in pre-game that a ball that hits a batter/runner/fielder in the chest or face or if you have 2 fielders full speed collide, we will kill it immediately and award bases we deem necessary. Again, we care more about the kids then the baseball game. 15U and up, we don't kill it unless it seems that the player needs absolute attention.

The only thing we move is either the tee (in t-ball) or the bat (if we can). The older and better they get, it becomes harder to move the bats, especially with a play at the plate w/ the infield in. The on deck hitter needs to learn to get the bat if he can, the previous runner needs to also learn, sometimes the catcher will kick them away. Again, it depends on the age level. I don't know think I have ever heard about a LL Rule requiring the umpires to move it.

I wasn't directing my post to you or your comment, sorry for the miss understanding. I was meaning how FS1 shows that the pitch was 6" outside and the actually pitch was on the corner. the interference takes precedence over the caught foul ball. So says the OBR. i would think if the ball is caught by the fielder originally interfered with, you would have nothing but an out on the batter, since the interference didnt prevent the play from being made. I also velieve had F2 caught the ball instead of F3, why would we protect F3? But i answered what the MLB would rule.

After watching the replay, the catcher nonchalantly threw back to the pitcher, ball off choo, you have nothing run scores. also, I love this video because it shows that even MLB guys, especially the CC, made a mental error. He knew he made a mistake, got together with the crew, explained what he had and why recieved other information about the rule them, verified they had the correct enforcement of the rule then changed the call. I agree with awarding home, had the play continued without reference to time being called the run would have scored without a play. Btw, there is no karma. This was the correct ruling on the play. In his judgement, there was no intent. Rangers just played poor defense. Its baseball. It happens.

You could have verbal interference? I was always told if your going to yell 1) don't say anything about the pitcher or about the offense team 2) don't raise your voice once he starts his motion. If you ignore it, then the W,R,E comes.

I hate instant replay, the reason, all these nick picky he came a inch off or was away from the bag by an inch.. or on his pop slide he came into the air for a brief second. It's ruining baseball. The slide was dirty, extremely late. In HS and NCAA, that's a double play with an ejection. I still don't like it in MLB, a lot because in youth baseball and HS, they try doing this. Or you'll hear coaches yell break it up.
