remember my sign on, but taking a guess here, you only have 2 seconds to give the challenge sign, and if you see catcher with glove on ground and challenge you have now lost a challenge. or something similar to this.

can we now work on a guaranteed flat fee on a 2 hour time limit game of $15, with a guaranteed $50 tip. i would like 2 games per day or 700 games total for this year please, or is that too much to ask.

thanks again for the above would still love to see (of course without paying) the paywalled version. oh well

i think? this article will be liked although i could not get into it to read, but i am still giving the link. if there is some number to challenges and the time used is pretty quick from experiments in the minors, why not let each team use 3 or 4 or even 6 challenges, and you get to keep if you are correct. what'!s another 3 minutes per game, if the amount and time it takes is in the article. and remember, as long as you are correct and the ump is wrong, you will never run out of challenges, even if given only 1 challenge per game, but which players are managers going to protect and who does not get protected. hey if you are under the mendoza line but you don't get 2nd chances too, that could affect your average and your future paycheck too. and yes, i know that there are some 7th game of the world series types that if the umpire even just misses the first pitch of the game (and thats the only one all game) it totally puts the batter or pitcher in a hole so deep 0-1 or 1-0 and changes the whole total complexion of the whole game from the get go, and that is why you lost the game on just that one pitch and we all might as well go home and quit the game right then and there because of that one pitch, the game is fixed cause the umps are terrible. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6085976/2025/01/24/roboumps-test-spring-training-mlb/

you look pretty svelte to me in this late 1990's photo where you digitally added a mustache that you were not allowed back then. how about a new updated picture in uniform like the old one, of your self proclaimed porky pig current status.

so, what is the exact point that 'abandonment occurs' so the replay official can determine the basic timing of events, just like other time or timing plays. naturally not mentioned, or will that exact point become judgment with absolutely no help with case book plays on what that judgment should look like or what that judgment should be. i think some level uses the grass cutout point for batter-runner giving up on going to first in several instances. so what help will be given for this new MLB rule. and oh yeh, what happens in baseball if the batter just hovers his foot in the air over the grass in the cutout without actually touching the grass just to play ff(muck muck with the rule) just like an out of bounds call/no call in basketball.

mask, outside protector, put feet right behind catchers feet and wear base shoes, cheap shin guards, and hold your hand over the tallywhacker area just like those new guys at umpire schools are shown doing, since u are working directly over and behind catcher, and or, go behind mound and guess on line calls. just wear basketball officiating uniform.

this site might provide for a group of resources to go after https://store.referee.com/new-2025-cca-baseball-umpires-manual and the arizona high school (or one of those googled arizona sites) site for equipment (including apparel) needed, and remember you need more than just 1 of many things mentioned. barrier to entry - only those professionals/mainly salaried individuals with deeper pockets and ability at making their own flexible schedule (no Wal-Mart greeters) need apply.

and i would imagine that if some in your area, state or states, have that same model and assign pretty much all the sports mens and womens (football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, field hockey, wrestling, baseball, softball, track and field for a school and then get 50 to 100 schools that is some $50-100k grand gig just from the schools. nice if they have a sweet paying regular traditional job that allows the time needed to do this on the side. would imagine some might charge the official a flat fee amount for each sport rather than 3$ per game also.

so this means with any substitute coach/coaches you will go straight to the ejection button, or do you have to go through that hear them, acknowledge them, warn them, eject them, routine (baseballs equal to the alcoholic anonymous step program) with each remaining substitute coach/coaches individually with the 4 step program (yes i know i used the wrong words for that 4 step program but i cannot remember the exact words.

How to properly complete a pivot at 1st base
dumbdumb replied to Jackrabbitslims's topic in Umpire Mechanics
do you get 'dinged' now if you do the old umpire school school taught pivot nowdays, in a 2,3,4 man scenario where 1BU might have to take runner to 2B, like the old guy mentioned to me, like he got dinged at the school for not taking one, when he went to the school years ago. question is for NFHS, NCAA, and MiLB -
article from May where it looks like they moved the top of the y axis in triple a from the year before from 51 to 53.5. https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/sports/mlb/robot-umpire-challenge-system-spring-training-2026-regular-season-possible/3914482/?os=avdf&ref=app https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5938669/2024/11/21/mlb-robot-umpires-testing-spring-training/

@SeeingEyeDog or maybe, you might want to take another angle for 'special' with the 2007 season high attendance. although he had been re-instated to call up status in 2005 and 2006, 'full time' re-instatement did not occur until 2007 for the former umpire with allegedly one of the most well known strike 3 calls in all of baseball, ie Tom Hallion and a you tube for you to enjoy
-
you could also tinker with fence distances, maybe 5 feet at a time all over or shorter from deep right field to deep center to deep left field only. more home runs but also more balls off the fence for doubles triples or long singles here and there. of course i do not think anyone wants a super slow pitch game of 30-25 scores with 10 home runs a piece either. @SeeingEyeDog 2007 lots of teams in playoffs that were not in the year before, 3 players going for 500 dingers and bonds setting HR record.

retrosheet umpire stats went up yesterday. you can search all games worked, ejections, crews, etc. if you so desire

make the rules to the results you want. so what does MLB want to happen in the perfect game to them, and how many times do they want each team to be able to replicate the perfect game. all the time 100% or 10% of the time. just adjust the strike zone high/low with the ADS system when it is fully implemented to get more action. action starts at the plate, so either lower the top of the zone, or raise the bottom of the zone or lower and raise it to make the historical average of 257 move upward to whatever number you think would make for a great game all the time. 275, 300. how about 2 designated hitters. one for the pitcher and one for the guy who is just suppose to advance the runner with a grounder or bunt him over. then where would you put 2 dh's. put one as 4th batter and the other at 9th as a rule. i think strike zone modifications would work the best high/low. but, you have to be transparent and give the new y axis numbers each year so people know what they are. pitchers can adjust and you have to allow that the best pitchers in baseball may now have era's of 4 and below, not 3 and below.

mm6--this is a loaded question just like how many runs and what inning the opposing team says that you should no longer steal a base. one manager says 5th inning and 6 runs, another manager says 5th inning 5 runs or you are breaking the code. others would say 6th inning 5 runs or 6th inning 7 runs, whatever. so it always depends on that managers interpretation of showing up their team or showing up the game itself. sometimes the inning matters if it is Roger Clemens on the mound throwing a no-hitter on the mound by the 5th inning and you know (how do you know that) he is going to be unhittable all day with the stuff he is showing/throwing that day, versus John Doe with a 12 era for the year. depends on if it is John Magraw as the manager vs Connie Mack, versus Whitey Herzog vs Sparky Anderson vs John McClaren vs Lou Pinella vs Lee Elia vs Don Mattingly vs John Gibbons vs Terry Francona. They will not all agree many times on pretty much anything. (or when do you go to One BAAT (One Base At A Time) with a big lead, or when are you throwing at someone and when are you not. sometimes you got to use that Gibbs gut or intuition or is it psychology or common sense or whatever. and sometimes everyone's common sense is different and what matters is the person that is holding the ding card, for your performance that you have to read their mind. and it can be the difference maybe (you guys would know) of don't let the door hit you on the way out for the end of the season evaluation or we are going to get you in the big 5 conferences next year in d1 or the show. But, this was one of those LOL moments that usually happens between home and first and backing up towards home. enjoy the moment and the laugh, but to each their own. now throwing that potayto or is it potahto ball may be another story.
