Why is it these douchebags feel the need to give us their resume'? I hear every week I played MiLB, MLB, D1, I umpire. Who gives a s**t? Today you're coaching a game on my field. You're just a guy coaching kids. Funny thing is, I actually recognized a former MLBer caoching once. I musta been looking at him funny trying to place him. He smiled and asked if I was a baseball fan and watch much MLB. I said yes about the time it hit me who he was. He never said a word. Here this guy, a legit big leaguer, doesn't need to "impress" me by career stats (which are impressive), but the coach who played 3rd string JUCO acts like I'm supposed to ask for his autograph. Jackasses. We used to have Mike Matheny here. Same type of guy. Never said a word. Would rather coach than complain. He's moved on to "other" pursuits. some areas (Alabama) expressly FORBID the BU using indicator. Others allow it. Most guys I've met from other states do not. that's baseball. In softball, it's accepted as standard practice here. Again, do what you do. I'm ORDERED not to, so I never have. Interesting... Any particular reason behind the prohibition?

I"m in the field and I've got 3-2 and the PU awards first on what he thinks is ball 4. I'm 95% sure it's only ball 3 but this guy is pretty good and knows what he is doing and nothing is coming from either dugout. (though as BR is heading to fisrt I hear just a little murmmering going on) and we are off to the next batter. Should I say something or wait until my partner asks? Kind of like when he would go to me for a check swing.

So it looks like so far from this discussion, there is not SET thing to do other than to pay attention and to be an extra set of eyes for the BU. One thing that was mentioned by a couple of you was "watch for an overthrow". Other than going out of play, what is it that I should be watching for? Thanks

Ohhhh.. he is moving his foot twice. Once to look at the catcher and then a second time to come set. I got it now. I would say that's definitely an "skill level / age group balk"

Sorry.. but I'm confused a bit here by the situation as described. The pitcher has his pivot foot on the rubber and his free foot slightly toward 1st but his hands are apart. Then he comes set and brings his hands together as well as his feet and that's a balk? What am i missing here?

I know it's around here somewhere but can't find it... Outfielder catches the ball but falls over the outfield fence. Home run or out? and does it matter if he cought it while jumping and then fell over vs catching it on the run so to speak (a couple of steps) and then going over the fence. (low, waist high fence) Thanks

Suppose the catcher tried to go "through" the batter instead of going around him. BI then? Or is it similar to when a runner is stealing 3rd. Don't move or do anything to try and get in the way and you are OK.

I had this recently. But F1 started yelling "get the ball, get the ball" Right or wrong I got him for verbal interference. Verbal interference? Who did he interfer with? :huh:

What if on the crack of the bat R1 is interfering with F3, even before you can tell if it's an IFF? If you call INT then it's a dead ball right then and there so whatever happens after you make the call would seem to me to be irrelevant.

IFF and F3 is going to make the catch. R1 runs into him. Dead ball and R1 is out with th BR going to first? Or "double play" both are out? BTW... Is there a search function on here... couldn't find it. Thanks
