The IFF clip should be part of a suite of clips shown to amateur coaches who claim, incredulously, that IFF brings with it a call of Time, or is a Dead Ball event.

Odd question . . . on the IFF, do you think the runner thought he had to go, or was he trying to sneak a base out of it?  The timing seems a little off, but I could be wrong since we can't see it.

I would bet he thought he had to go since it was not caught. We all know players don't know the rules that well. Just look at how many former players are color commentators and show their ignorance of the rules often.

That was my first thought, but the reason I ask is the the play at third was quite a bit closer than I would have expected had he waited till the ball hit the ground.

Two Three things:

- Front offices are wasting time with xFIPIBITYPIPIPPTY if they can't even send these clips to the team of basics

- The Giants R2 definitely wasn't trying to grab a quick 90. He had no clue and panicked when the ball hit the dirt

- Where are the "Wait until they are camped under it to call it" folks on this play? ;)

New rule:  If an IF is called, three out of the four umpires on the field press a button that activates Hawkeye to track the ball and release an actual hawk to catch the ball.  It then returns the ball to the batboy as the ball is no longer usable due to the claws. If the hawk doesn't catch it, Hawkeye shoots the ball out of the air.

This eliminates all players of having to know the rule and having to hear the coaches say "he didn't hear you."

Lower level leagues have two years to implement having a trained hawk present at all games.  Receiving and installing Hawkeye will be given a three year implementation plan.

I haven't actually thought this all through yet but it seems like a very viable solution....
