What do we have on the runner here?

So we know this situation happened at an MLB game. But I'm curious what we do here under FED rules...

IMO - I'm calling the runner out for attempting to leap over a fielder. But no ejection because I don't have malicious contact.

The biggest takeaway I have is officials should carry Tasers. But for coaches ONLY. It's the step we take after restriction but before ejection.

Ignore. Acknowledge. Warn. Restrict. Taser! Taser! Taser! Eject.

I suppose I should be transparent . . . a few weekend ago I did have a game stopped for almost 10 minutes due to a cup check.  However, we didn't stop it, the batter did when he hit one straight down and back up and and . . . yeah.  It may have pushed that puberty back up in for a while.

"Coach, are your players legally equipped?" is as far as my check is going to go.

Admitted bias: I was a catcher and never wore one.  Could never get comfortable, and maybe because we were poor?

Like you, that's all I'm asking. I know of an umpire though who will actually ask the catcher specifically--much to the chagrin of everyone that I know that works with him--and is willing to pause the game if the catcher's not wearing one.

Pro tip for parents...

If you ever have a son who plays sports and is not wearing his protective cup all you need to do is put his cup in a jockstrap (clean, of course...) and place it in the back of your vehicle. Drop your son at their game and tell them you'll be along shortly. Park, wait 5 minutes, then grab the jockstrap and cup and walk to the field. When you get about 50 feet from the dugout, start running and waving the jock and cup wildly while calling your son's name...loudly.

"Johnny! Johnny! You forgot your cup! You forgot your cup!"

Your son will never "forget" his cup again...or so I'm told.
