16U travel (regular season), 2-man (I'm U1), no new inning at 1 hour, 50 minutes. Did I mention I'm on the front half of a double-header here?

We come to the bottom of the 5th. Home team is ahead by 12 and there is no mercy rule. We have 8 minutes on the clock and I have informed my partner of the time. We ask the HTM if he would like to continue or end the game. He wants to continue. We tell him if we hit the time limit before the inning is completed, we will announce last batter. He acknowledges. We tell the VTM and he acknowledges.

I tell my partner I am watching the time and I will give him the signal when we are at the 1 minute to go mark.

We get 2 outs, R1 @ 2B and R2 @ 1B and we are one minute to the time limit and I signal my partner. He doesn't announce last batter. As we hit the time limit, I call time and announce, "We have hit the time limit with the home team leading. The ballgame is over." HTM comes out to my partner and asks to finish the inning. My partner turns to the VTM and he agrees. I start to jog to the plate to make the case to my partner. He sees me coming and waves me off. We resume the game. We are now beyond the time limit and...the batter wears the next pitch on his shoulder. We end the game. Now, I sit and wait and wonder if my phone is going to ring.

In the parking lot, I just told my partner, "We're supposed to be a team out there. When we agree on something, I expect we're going to do what we agreed upon. If you want to do something different, please just let me know." He said he didn't think it was a big deal...

I can't force my partner to end a game. I can't force baseball teams to vacate the field. My partner was the crew chief. I'm not simply walking off the field myself...am I?

I'm sorry...isn't R1 the runner who has advanced the furthest around the diamond?

If it helps you, runners on first and second in my scenario.

Yea SED  I would have laid into him after the game. You me and the coaches all agreed to this.. You and I need to uphold that then.

That was BS imho of your partner.

If you are asking seriously, the convention, whether NFHS, NCAA or OBR, is R1 = the runner on first, R2 = the runner on second, and R3 = the runner on third.

That's the old FED way of doing things.  Most reasoned people preferred R1 at first, R2 at second, R3 at third.  Even FED wised up within the past couple of years.

Few things…

1) I would have asked VT if they wanted to continue or not, not HT. Home team of course wants to bat. The question is whether VT wanted to try and get 3 outs in less than 8 mins for the right to bat again

2) Once time limit was hit, game should have ended instantly since home team was batting and ahead. By continuing beyond unnecessarily, you are liable for what happens, and a kid getting plunked should have made your heart race. If he took that in the teeth…

This would be why I said, "Now, I sit and wait and wonder if my phone is going to ring."
