F6 obstruction or nothing

Umpire-Empire locks topics which have not been active in the last year. The thread you are viewing hasn't been active in 1905 days so you will not be able to post. We do recommend you starting a new topic to find out what's new in the world of umpiring.

Question

Posted

OBR (but wouldn’t  mind hearing if any other rules change outcome)
Runner on 2nd only.  R2 leads off. F6 standing directly behind R2 moves around R2 from left to right completing a circle. Next time F6 makes the same move R2 takes off for 3rd running into F6 as circle is 3/4 complete. R2 entangles with F6, then F1 steps off and makes throw to F5 putting out R2.

Just asking here, let's assume two man system where U1 is in "C" with a runner on 2B only.  How can we call what we don't see, even if glancing back quickly?

PU might be able to get it.  But, yes -- two man (and three man and four man and almost anything less than 13 man) will have some holes.

The question answers itself. BU is quite unlikely to see this.

But your pronoun "we" refers to more than BU.

You cannot and you should not. If you do, you will likely have an less than casual conversation with the DHC when he inquires what you saw or, more specifically, what you didn't see.

It's a limitation of the 2 man system. It is impossible to see everything that happens on a baseball field  with a 2 man crew, and any coach worth his sunflower seed littered dugout knows you could never see such a play while in C.

OH YEAH..............outfield cameras in  Houston.  I get it now.

:sarcasm:

One umpire to watch each fielder; one to watch each potential runner.
