Question

Order of Adam, Brian, Charlie.  Adam is at bat when inning ended, runner thrown out at second.  Next time they come up Brian goes to plate and is hit by the pitch.  Defense team appeals the batting out of order.  High School Game - umpires remove the runner from the base and call out Adam - Charlie goes to the plate to bat with one out.  What should have been the call??

Brian remain at first, Adam is called out and Charlie is at bat with one out?

You're not gonna leave a player on base that shouldn't have batted. Richvee looks like he nailed it.

You can see a good example of this happening in real life.

Real life? Few aspects of our great country are more distant from real life than professional sports.

Anyway, it is worth noting that the FED rule for MYTAB is the same as the pro rule. In the OP, the umpires were 2/3 correct:

  1. The correctly negated all advances made by the improper batter's at bat, by removing Brian from base.
  2. They correctly called out the proper batter, Adam.
  3. They incorrectly sent Charlie to the plate: the next batter should be whoever follows the previous proper batter, so Brian should have been next (yes, returned to the plate after HBP).

The basics of the rule are the same but FED differs from OBR in that FED allow runners put out when an improper batter advances them to remain out when the improper batter is appealed.
