Can anyone cite a rule stating that F1 cannot be wearing a long sleeve undershirt. Lets assume that no teammates are wearing them or that any team members wearing long sleeve undershirts are also wearing white ones.  Babe Ruth/ Cal Ripken rule set, which is based on OBR.  I have been unable to find one and am assuming that this is a myth.

The only thing about sleeves is they cannot be frayed or torn and must be equal length. That brings up the new phenomenon of "the sleeve"
This prompts a slight highjack...Do you allow a pitcher to wear a sleeve? Our association(we used modified OBR in Canada) has made this a point of emphasis

According to FED (I do not have the specific rule), sleeves on a pitcher cannot be white or gray. Position players, no problem,  pitchers -> VERB OTEN

Fed rule 1.4.2  For individual players, uniform sleeve lengths may vary. However, sleeves of each individual player shall be approximately the same length and shall not be ragged, frayed or slit. If the pitcher's undershirt sleeves are exposed, they shall not be white or gray. Compression sleeves that are solid black or solid darkcolored shall be the only colors allowed to be worn by the pitcher below his elbow. A pitcher shall not wear any item on his hands, wrists or arms which may be distracting to the batter. A pitcher shall not wear white or gray exposed undershirt sleeves or any white or gray sleeve that extends below the elbow. A vest and coordinating shirt that is worn underneath is viewed as a type of uniform top.

It's not an OBR rule, but many youth organizations / leagues adopt such a rule, even if they play under OBR-based rules.

Thanks noumpere.  I figured this was the case, and I have never seen it in OBR ( though I have been known to miss things in plain view).

Depends on the league. In Little League it's 1.11(a )(3) - a pitcher's exposed undershirt cannot be white or gray.

Thanks Rich.  I haven't located anything in the B/R rulebook on it yet and don't think I will find anything there.  1.11 is where I thought it was going to be if it was there.  I seem to remember Dixie Baseball having that rule in their book but it's been a few years since I worked any Dixie games.

NCAA rule -

1-14 d (in part) Any part of an undershirt exposed to view shall be of the same solid color other than white.

A.R. - Neoprene sleeves, if worn by a pitcher, must be covered by an undershirt.

I think you can piece together 3 parts of 1.11 to get the undershirt not being white (or grey).

1.11 (a)(2) Any part of an undershirt exposed to view shall be of a uniform solid color for all players on a team.

1.11 (a)(3) No player whose uniform does not conform to that of his teammates shall be permitted to participate in a game.

1.11 (e) No part of the uniform shall include a pattern that imitates or suggests the shape of a baseball.

Most local leagues have a local rule that is similar to Little League's provision. Our local league was Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken a couple years ago and we adopted that.

Unless they all wear gray or white undershirts. When I was playing, our team wore white undershirts, the pitchers had to wear a dark color. Some sort of deal our school had with the uniform supplier. for the white shirts.

Very true - back when I played it was long white sleeves under regular jerseys. Never made sense to me and of course Mom used to love to keep them clean :) . But, the pitchers wore a dark color.

Still today, you can wear what you want under the jersey, as long as the entire team has them - except the pitcher of course.
