Good EJ?

Heard about this one on the radio this morning and they made it sound like it was a terrible EJ but then I watched the video and I don't see how the PU can not EJ here.

The announcer is a dick.  He says Cuzzi missed all those pitches when Gil says Pitch f/x has him getting all of them right.  Even the last pitch that was shown in the video shows that it was low and the ball call was correct.

Seems like 2 rock solid EJ's to me.

I watched this whole game and ESPN strike zone is showing pitches that were touching the lines and Kurk and Schilling saying well that's borderline when Cuzzi got them.  Basically inferring he was wrong when pitch track is showing the pitch touched or was so close to touching you could barely tell.  I saw four or five pitches that were legit misses.  Vogelsong was obviously not talking to his catcher, he was telling Cuzzi, who knew what Vogelsong was doing, to stop and he didn't so he got tossed accordingly.

I also remember one of Kurk and Schilling saying something to the effect, you can go a little up or a little down in the zone but not in or out when calling balls and strikes.  Saying something about the batter can't get to those, meaning the in and out ones.  That's just stupid, they both know that that is exactly the opposite of how it works.

​I don't know her personally, but that's what I heard.

Looks like Phil has a mic on his belt. Man, I'd love to hear the audio from that mic for this clip.

His overall accuracy for Giants pitchers was 82/84 or 97.6%  He called two pitches that were balls, strikes.

Zero pitches in the strike zone called "Ball" 

43 called balls.

Is it my imagination, or are a lot more pitchers running their mouth to the umpires this year? More and more of these MLB guys getting grief from the catchers, pitchers and the managers on pitch calls - it is getting out of hand. A few of the 'old school' tools always running their mouths, but now some of the young guys feel they can do the same.

Maybe the ejection will teach the young guys, that you can't argue balls and strikes?

​Nope.  It's not your imagination.  There have been a lot of EJs this year for arguing Balls and Strikes.   

Thanks to video review, there really is nothing else to argue anymore other than Balls and Strikes.  

And, we all know what happens when that happens.

Schilling is talking out his backside...if you watch the video closely, the pitcher has a ball in his glove at the time of ejection.  All the poo-pooing on the young catcher is not even right...he did throw the ball back to the pitcher!
