Where is our resident teen pop music expert...ok, I'll fill-in since I'm "so into" the pop culture...not.

 

The song Happy is one that often gets played on the music boxes that parents bring to our youth games.

My, then teenage, son turned me on to Weird Al Yankovic and his pop music parodies years ago.

I LOVE Weird Al. Him and Garth Brooks are my two favorite artists of all time. Queen as a group. The sheer talent Weird Al has though is insane. He takes someone else's adding and writes new lyrics that fit perfectly and make fun of the song. And he sounds mostly like the other group.

Garth Brooks, Weird Al and Queen...quite the eclectic group.

 

Weird Al gets artists to agree to let him parody their songs because he really isn't making fun of the original, he takes the original a step further. I've heard the song "Happy" at the ballpark, but I'd had never gone to the internet to see the video if Weird Al hadn't made the parody. It's not really my kind of music, but I enjoyed watching all those people doing their "happy" dances on the videos...Pharrell's and Weird Al's.

Talk about overplayed....while I was in Australia, no matter where I went, I heard "Happy" or "I'm the man." It was almost comical. Now they make me nostalgic and miss the place I fell in love with.

If the DJ plays it during the lame school dances, I'll go make a fool out of myself, but I don't listen to it on a regular basis.

And also you should stop tying my music tastes with my age because most of my favorite bands were dead or dying by the time I hit elementary school and I'm pretty sure Quiet Riot has broken up by now.
