I think it depends on how wide you are across the chest. I kept mine on. The gold chest plate isn't very wide.....<br /><br />Again..... This has also been discussed on the equipment forum. Search gold wings of tabs/ flaps

Im too wide! 5-10 245lbs was up to 270 at one time.

I would keep and tuck 'em. Year 12 for my West Vest Gold. They are there for a reason.

Got my wv gold today put it on and fell in love. Much better fit and less bulky than the platinum. Doesn't move around at all. Are the flaps supposed to be under the shoulder pad or over? Mine kept coming out?

Can somebody post the link or pic of the guy who put elastic on his to keep them tucked?

I have had no issues with the elastic so far.  It's working like I hoped it would.
